  1. Good thing somebody was paying attention, keep us posted if you would William, on the status of this fish or reptile or whatever it turns out to be !!
  2. Some great stuff there William, looks like we have very similar interests. I seen the meg teeth long before the individual pics "very nice" I'll post some pics of my favorite vendor store as soon as I make a trip up there, many displays are very similar !!
  3. Yep !! On second look I agree Steph !! 99% of the Vacor old fashioned I've seen do have that orange peel type texture.
  4. Sounds like maybe a ya got good thing going for ya William. Making friends with the vendors and or owners is always a plus. I have made several good friends that way & our friendships have went far beyond the store or their spaces. Oh !! and the display deal you got is "fantastic" they're not cheap by any means & lighted on top of that. I just bought 2 wall mount locking ones that also needed assembly. I'll be posting some pics of them soon, in other words they're already full, something I've needed for a long time. "Good luck" on you ventures William, looking foreword to more pix !! "Ys" i have cousins in Redding & another small town in California called Redway just west of Redding near the coast, the big blue marble we live on is getting smaller all the time !!
  5. My Grandfather & thus my Mother were from Wisconsin. My great great Grandmother was 100% Chippewa Indian, also from the great lakes region. The Meg tooth sounds great & a pretty reasonable price to. It seems the closer you get to the source the more expensive things get. That tooth would be a couple hundred here at least, 7" is a big one alright. Glad you found a place to get what your interested in at decent prices. Over the years I've made friends with many shop and mall owners & even grew up with a few. Honesty really goes a long ways as long as it's mutual, it took a while but now I know when I'm getting skinned. Strange we have an Onalaska WA. about 45 minutes from here. Truly a small, small world we live in. Really enjoying the pix William, keep em comin I have a bunch of pix of my hobbies & so forth posted if you click on my avatar & the about me section there. I've posted several of the pix before & some I haven't. I'm the big one in all the pix, some are quite old some newer, you'll unfortunately see the age progression in me as you look at the pix. Good grief I feel old !! Also a great deal on the rose quartz, a guy here in town will make you what ever you want, mostly names, inscribed hearts, dice and other shapes. He uses several different gemstones, quartz, amethyst, carnelian, blood agate etc... I'll "try" & remember to get some pix of his work & post it here.
  6. "Yes" I think it' a horse or maybe a cow tooth, if it's smaller maybe goat or something of that nature, but most definitely a tooth. I really like this sharks tooth, I had a fossilized one on a necklace and had some jaws we cut out of a blue tip at one time, you oughta see all the spares they have, inumerable. I'm only 45 miles from the ocean here so I see a lot of this stuff, I even lived there in Astoria where they made the movies "Goonies" & "Kindergarten cop" during my first marriage after I got out of the Navy, of course well before the movies were ever made, I loved living there, I never get tired of seeing this kind of stuff. "Thanks for sharing the pix" Some great memories !!
  7. Ah !! Finally made it on Friday.........................Almost !!
  8. All "machine made " "no handmades" "no pontils" appears to be asmade cold roll crease. Air bubbles are common in clearies. I believe every manufacturer known made clearies & I know of no way to differentiate one manufacturer from another.
  9. Iridescent finish on this one reminds me of "Vacor"
  10. So is smaller than 3/8ths" & the other 19/32nds". Definitely not any form of Euro sparkler & the red one @ 9mm, 23/64-, is smaller than the .50" pee - wee mark ?? I have seen some bizarre pee - wee mibs & regret to say I have no idea of manufacturer on these 2.
  11. x 2 Agree with Ric, first pic Master brushed patch. I have a large Master brushed patch that's almost a twin to yours, (L) center. The first one, if it has filaments I'm not sure on, the seam in the 4th pic does look Akro, but I can barely see some of the filament structure in the white you are talking about ??
  12. A link with a few pics of some European sparklers from right here on MC to help ya out a bit, European sparklers are usually larger, near at or over one inch at times and usually have filaments like as Ric said. I can't pin yours down, do you have a size, maybe another clue as to the possible I.D. ?? LINK : https://marbleconnection.com/topic/15927-european-sparkler-marble/

The bubbles were my draw as well Steph, as visible in the window in the second pic, but I'm still lost. "If" only an in hand exam like we all want was possible !! I guess we'll get that when they invent 3-D, touch, smellavision.................

it looks veneered like a Vitro to me ???? but te second pic looks like one side of a pelt rainbo ??? I'm on the fence on this one. Hopefully a couple more will post and the mystery will be solved !!
  16. You can see what they did to mine Ric, they fried it !! I mean crackle marbles are pretty but ?? "Yes" yellow is and always has been hard to find for me as well, I have 2 old German yellow micas and they were about triple what the other colors were , with a cobalt blue blizzard in close second.
  17. Mine to William, I think the cats & pincers were all about the same size with some of the clearies being ridiculously tiny.
  18. Agreed Bruce, the pitcher I have is very heavy duty, I did think it was Akro until I turned it over & seen the same sunburst type pattern on the bottom of almost all the imperial pieces. "Yes" a very thick piece of glass, the pitcher can barely be seen in this pic on the upper left hand side, there is also an amber slag glass lion made by summit in the forefront. I believe the summit glass lion is also a copy of an earlier mold, I'm not sure exactly who made the earlier piece ??
  19. "Yes" agreed, the first is a large Imperial pitcher, mine is red, second is an Akro toothpick holder, the ashtrays I'm not positive & the little slag boat is a game piece. All the items on the link I gave are fully identified and guaranteed to be what they say they are. The store I gave the link to is "most" dependable. The Akro I.D. book written by Roger & Claudia Hardy is available rite on this site, the same link I gave above. I agree with Bruce, many things claim to be made by & will actually imitate Akro. Many, many manufacturers made slag glass, I think I only paid $12.00 for the imperial pitcher, if it were Akro it would have ran me a pretty penny. 20. Here's the link to a store for you to take look at, they used to have over 4000 pieces and now are slowly rebuilding after C19. Akro agate arsenal was & still is the largest Akro marble related store site there is, I believe Ron Knows them personally. Here's the link. I have bought several items from them in years past, it used to take me hours to look over all their stuff. I believe they have more but an Email or contact through Ebay is probably necessary to find out ?? On another note, I also agree with Ron on the shifter knobs & Akro never making them, even though many appear as large corkscrews or marbles, no provenance that "I've ever seen" proving that Akro ever manufactured them. "Houze" made many beautiful knobs though !! I used to collect them, cigarette lighters etc.... I still have many pieces of Akroware but nowhere near what I used to have. As you are well aware marbles eventually & almost always lead to anything & everything marble related. You have been bit my friend as we all have............. 21. Agree with Ric 1. Pelt rainbo 2. Asian Imperial 3. Alley
