  1. You just Put an @ before the user name and wait for it to come up--you may have to scroll a bit. Marble--On!!
  2. I just love this cool old stuff--time for bed though-- Marble--On!!
  3. Stone Agates were made in California for sure--this would be a big one though. Have you ever seen the images of these poor lads laying on a bench grinding and polishing? You never know do you? Marble--On!!
  4. Well--if you cannot get an ID from these images--I give up==great job! Alley Agate is what I would call it. Marble--On!!
  5. The rest of the marbles that you show are macine made. They came out of a large furnace containing the same glass, were cutoff by a machine and rounded by a machine. The "Chalkey" that you show would have been picked out and disgarded by quality control--some were no doubt missed. It has been observed that this may have been a result of being buried over the years and a result of that--who really knows?\ All Marbles have two cutoff points. Some may look like pontils--but pontils are a handmade term only. Marble--On!!
  6. On this latest green one image #3 and #4 show where it was cut off . One end was as made, slightley rounded by hand and one was ground. It was more than likely gathered by hand out of a pot of glass and cut off by hand by a shears and barely rounded by hand—no machines involved here—man made. The Ground part was just sticking out too far to be at least semi round. A pretty cool find imho.
  7. X2 now that we can see the poles. Nice marble this one!! Marble--On!!
  8. Yes, The definition between the colors which are melding would be sharper with a Pelt. The red has a blackish overtone which no doubt can be found in a Pelt—just more defined in a Pelt--- more common in a Vacor. I have to admit though—if I found it in a low light situation—like in an antique mall—I would be hard pressed without a flashlight to pass on it. Marble—On!!
  9. I would not call it a Pelt--WVS works for me Fire. Marble--On!!

    Help

It is an Akro "Silver Oxblood" Linda Gail---very good eye!! Condition is everything though. I think that there is another Akro or two involved here--it may be a "Blue Oxblood" but the images do not support it. Not a bad bunch of marbles. Marble--On!!
  11. Unreal!! I wish that you gave some more defined images here. It is a simple Rainbo---but just a killer--just special! Marble--On!!
  12. I will comment on the first image and the last one as well in the OP. The first is a nice corkscrew and the last one qualifies as a----- Agreed. Nice find--it may have been found in a bag of sold/marketed marbles vs one from a dig. Very cool find! Marble--On!!
  13. Page 124 in "Peltier Glass Toy Marbles"-The book. Great find--no name. Marble-On!!
  14. Hard to tell the difference between any clays. There is one expert that I know of. @akronmarbles---- Marble--On!!
  15. I agree--a big Vacor Cat. Marble--On!!
  16. This one is a MK Melissa. An older one perhaps but I see no Peltier here. Great marble! I appreciate all opinions and hope to see some more. Marble--On!!
  17. Eddie Winningham and Kim both have put in a ton of money and effort in this book. Lets give credit were it is due. Cheese helped for sure. Marble--On!!
  18. This one may need a separate post Dave. There could be some great discussion there. Marble--On!!
  19. I agree Ric--the times that you state are probably right on. This is right around the time that we all gained a new respect for "Native Americans. Marble--On!!

  22. I remember the "King Bisquit Flour Hour" out of Little Rock--we could only get it after dark. Rock--On!!
  23. Hand-gathered---- Machine rounded is what you should ask next time stephenb. We all appreciate what you do--never get that wrong but at some point, you will be challenged again. This is the way of marble collecting. I am challenged all of the time—water off a ducks back (I am not an expert—but I am kinda good😁--I think at least). Once again, this is how we all learn. This post is not designed/desired as any form of attack on you personally. Sometimes the Horses around the marble collecting community just refuse to drink and sometimes we all need cleaner water. This is a passion for many and I am glad to see that the passion has not gotton out of hand here. Let’s just Marble—On!!
  24. You do good work--I would take a second or third look at the bottom two for sure. Marble--On!!
  25. Well Ric, I look at a lot of poutch's and the Master Pouch type stick out for sure--just because they are named. I have a collection of around 100 poutches and the one that I refer to is my only one--a lucky find today--the third one I looked at. I could not tell you how many times I have passed on this one but the Native American linked pouch is a very common find and I pass on most of them. I probably got this one in a lot of marbles--just a bonus. I cleaned it for you Ric--it is still a tad damp though. Surprisingly it had an inner liner ( at first I thought that it was old tobacco---yukkk) it just fell apart, the inner liner--it was rotton for sure. The outer poutch is deerskin---in good shape--the inner would only be a guess--maybe pigskin but it was black and maybe the black dye was it's misfortion and it was Deer Hide. The first image is as found--the second is cleaned but damp. An inner liner is not a thing that I have seen before--two seperate layers of leather--pretty cool. I also listed what I clean these with and what I condition them with after the leather dries out ( it gets quite stiff). I would not attempt this unless you are willing to fail. Marble--On!!
