  1. That looks like one to me.
  2. In my database beside the mikeswes.... ID, I also had this for an old eBay ID old_marbles_for_you His last name begins with Re...., correct?
  3. Great pics, Edna - looks like you had a fine time!
  4. Was that on eBay? I didn't notice that auction if it was. I have one with 35 white crossthrus - haven't seen one with 50. Here's a pic of mine.
  5. How sad but great photos! Thanks for sharing.
  6. I know Tom was bidding on them but not sure if he won or not. He has a lot of them.
  7. That looks like a broken dumbbell and, yup, those do happen when going down the rollers. The marbles hook up while hot and voila...
  8. Cool work of 'art' and time, Rich. From time to time many collectors have tried to pick 'perfect' letters or numbers where you don't have to look through other markings on the marbles but your idea is a good one. I think I have a 3 somewhere but I'll have to look for it. Of course, if I turn the 3 upside down, I'd have an E. Here's a pic of one I won't give up - a rare two letter one that Bo gave me a few years ago - OR (for Oregon).
  9. I agree. Those are fantasy bags. Alox did not make the Army, Navy, Air Force series. I do have other Alox bags with a variety of other marbles, like MK. I thought the ones with MK's are fantasy bags also even if Alox did buy from other manufacturers but ... I also understand that Alox bags and headers were available separately and may have just been filled with other company marbles. Here are some pics.
  10. Here is Bill Tow's picture of the Les Jones Memorial Marble

I really don't see many like that in the US. Although many times when I see something like that, I am thinking European Sparkler so... Pretty marble!
  12. Great marbles. Thanks for sharing with us.
  13. I had posted a message on her board after I got your Facebook message. For some reason, I could not reply to your message on Facebook.
  14. OK, I'm confused. This was an old topic from 2007 that was suddenly revived. Why? Was there a 2nd Edition/update of the original Popular American Marbles? That was the one with the poor pics. This is not to be confused with American Machine Marbles by the same authors around the same time. That one is a great book. Please enlighten me as to whether there is a new or updated book (Aug 2010). Thanks.
  15. I have seen a similar box pic posted back in 2004. Also, here are some 'can' picture from back in 2001 - close-ups pics by Les (says 'Made in USA') so that answers that question.
  16. Happy belated birthday! 3/4 of a century - lot of experience!
  17. Nice marble - hardter to find but they do pop up. The transparent purple base ones are the tough ones, especially without fractures.
  18. Happy birthday to both of you. We don't see Randy on the boards much but BJ is hanging in there...
  19. Thanks for sharing that. I had heard bits and pieces about Weldon but this sums it up very nicely.
