I have a couple patches like that. When backlit, they have various amber base glass. I don't think these are what the chocolate oxblood are. The only pics that I have are ones that Bo posted back in 2001. Here they are.

I met him at the Parkersburg Show some years ago. He did a great service to the hobby by writing the various books and helping people get interested in marbles. My condolences to his family.

I recently got 20+ of those bags from eBay lot. All have similar type of shooter in each one. Marbles all appear to be Ravenswood. Some have one or two the brown-green and brown-blue swirls that are the more sought after ones.

Good info. I wonder if the Norman Rockwell Museum got some for free...?

Neat marble and thanks for the info. I don't collect handmades and don't recall seeing pics of a Chevron before (thought it was a particular additive in gasoline - LOL!).

I'll be there late Wednesday afternoon. Looking forward to it. Just gotta figure out what to bring in my carry-on (limited space)... Hope someone has some marble packaging there - bags, etc.

From a $ value on the marbles themselves, I have no idea. From a finding them standpoint, I obviouly find far fewer of the Wales bags with the Conqueror lookalikes than I do Vitro bags with Conquerors. So, at least from that standpoint, that would make me think that the individual Wales marbles might be a little more valuable. Here are pics of a couple of the Wales bags for people that are not familiar with them.

Are you talking about a bag of Wales marbles? There are many different style bags with different marbles in them, like basic cat's-eyes, 3 way crossthru cat's-eyes or the variegated (as they spell it) or the ones that look like Vitro Conquerors. Or are you talking about a single marble, like the Vitro lookalikes?

There is a cage style cat's-eye (foreign) - 2nd from upper right. The middle row looks mostly like game marbles although the middle on might be an off patch. The others are what we commonly call WV 9West Virginia) swirls since there were 14 companies in WV over the marble making years and most made swirl type marbles. All are common types - a couple, if mint, might be worth a dollar or two but rest are nickel, dime, quarter...

Yup, he will be missed. It was amazing what he could make - those miniatures that he did were great! I enjoyed talking with him at the shows.

I want to tape it also but this is what it showed for the Monday (Jan 31st) episode on their website. Is this the one?? ------------------ Mike and Frank find themselves in a high-risk situation when they are chased by a crazy emu who roams a farm in Tennessee that the boys are picking. Once they've escaped from the bird they manage to rescue a much sought after fireplace fa ade. Danielle sends the guys to Frank Wolf, who gives them a golden lead to a guy called Jerry Lotz, where Mike buys a Schwinn auto-cycle bike for a $1,000 and Frank leaves with two rare BB guns. The guys finish up their trip by surprising an old friend of Mike's, Ruby Guidara, a famous Nashville set designer. They purchase an old dentist chair from her that Mike thinks would be perfect in a Lady Gaga video, but when they take the chair to an appraiser they hear some surprising information.

Well then, let's here it for Oregon! (Gift from Bo...!)
