  1. I just received a call about this also. Apparently he became ill and was hospitalized shortly after the Seattle Show. He was at all the West Coast shows that I attended and had some great marbles, boxes and more. He will be missed. Much too young to leave us.
  2. Lou - are you using the process that Steph shows in Post 30 and 31? That's the only way I know to upload pics and I have the same problem that Steph has. If you are not using that, why is it there? You might check with the techs to find out why it does not work.
  3. Just a follow-up on the book comment. I don't think people that write very specific type of marble books make any money off them. I think they are lucky to break even. I would just like to see all the info categorized in one place and with good pics. Steph has done a great job with the "Study Hall", etc. getting information pieced together on various marbles and topics.
  4. The 1985 MCSA Guide had no mention of the name spiral or corkscrew
  5. Maybe someone will write a book/pamphlet about the find and include pics.
  6. Hi Lou - using the same that I have been for last few years - Windows XP and the AOL browser. Must have been something when the site was redone that conflicts with AOL. I have seen that happen before - once with Pete's a couple of years ago.
  7. Also, I tried to edit the above post to add the 'd' to 'threa' in the first sentence. Same error message.
  8. Another glitch showed up. I noticed a couple typos in my reply to Rich's thread on the Joker Run pics. So, I clicked on Edit and made the changes - a ? and changing the Id to If. When I clicked on the Save Changes, I got this warning (error) message. It was the gray color warning box with blue header. In the blue header part, it had "Message from Webpage" and then in the box area, the yellow warning sign and "TypeError: 'CKEDITOR' is undefined. Then the OK button. I tried it a couple of different time with the same results. Also, still can't upload pics from my computer.
  9. Rich, are the pics being published in an upcoming book - is that the reason for watermarks? We rarely see anyone not wanting pictures to be shared - in fact, I can't remember the last time. If it is a book, when will it be done and published. Id it is not you, maybe the author will chime in. I think it would be a great book. Of course, if it isn't going to be published until all the great Jabo Special runs are done, that may be never... Maybe it'll be a Part I, Part II, etc.
  10. That is what I understood also. I had questioned some time back if Jabo packaged some of the Vitro Anacortes marbles when they first started out and I was told "No", that Jabo did not buy the marbles.
  11. I just see a No Permission type picture
  12. Monday morning, 9:25 am PDT, I still got this message when trying to upload a 61kb pic Error This upload failed
  13. OK - my test - I got the "Error this upload failed" message with a 20kb pic and a 61kb pic.
  14. Wow, cool door. I can see why they won. Thanks for sharing!
  15. You definitely want to attend the "marble floor" the day or two before the show. That's where you get a chance to meet other collectors (almost everyone buys. sells & trades), see their marbles and ask questions. Collectors will take the time to try and ID marbles that you bring and try to answer questions. The Texas folks are very hospitable. I was there (from Oregon) a few years ago and enjoyed it. If you can afford it, do make reservations for the hotel and stay on the floor. That way you can stay up until the wee hours talking about marbles and enjoying everyone's company.
  16. Ron Jorgenson used to sell these on eBay. I think his ID was radjj or something close to that.
  17. Here are 5 boxes I have (one is blurry - sorry!)
  18. Good thing I'm going up tomorrow (Wed.) - I'll be in the first 10 in line....!
  19. Plus it mentions the type of boxes that were still in use in the 50's.
  20. Ann - while $25 (plus shipping) is not much to some people, it might be a lot to others. Especially if it is "only" a 32 page book, people might like to know a little more about it before buying it. So, any light you could share that would encourage people to buy the book will help the author cover publishing costs.
