  1. Here's a picture of the ones Ron had at the show - different sizes.
  2. Ron Shepherd had come across a couple of these also and had them at the WVMCC show a few months ago. He wasn't sure and we had some discussions about them. I had seen other printed bags that had been on eBay a year or so ago (and even further back) so my first thoughts were fantasy/fake. I would think someone would have come across remnants of these bags in digging or some prior find if they were real.
  3. So sad to hear. They were a wonderful couple. I enjoyed chatting with them at the shows.
  4. Great oxblood items! LOL - I was expecting "Irish" Oxblood marbles. I think you have them all, Craig - not sure if other pictures will be posted... However, here is a picture of some car ashtrays that zaboo posted back in 2003 - not all oxblood but...
  5. You just 'found' one but now you have to convince Dani & Ernie to sell it to you...
  6. Neat bag - original for sure. I don't have any Penny King bags larger than 20 count. Also, a side note - that is the first (real) Champion header that I have seen without a count number on one of the sides of the header. Must be some out there but I don't have any in the 25-30 different Champion bags that I have, plus pics of others.
  7. Here is a picture posted by Marboman of some exotics but they were not his marbles.
  8. Happy birthday, Ernie. You're catching up.... We can celebrate in 6 weeks or so.
  9. Neat kaleidoscope! Haven't seen one with the old handmade - one that your Mother had?
  10. Union Bags, made in Japan, also had some of these 'Vitro' type patches
  11. The 'Wales' ones, to me, were the ones that looked more like Vitros. They did have that sort of 'window' to them also. Here's a couple pics - some were in regular Wales bags and some in Wales 'Variegated' bags.
  12. These were a couple pictures posted in the past - one by duffy in 2009 and by Gene in Nov 2010 (no other info that I remember)
  13. I got that one some years ago but don't think I ever read it - need to find it and read.
  14. It does not look like any US machine made marble to me - either foreign or contemporary.
  15. Interesting ad - thanks for sharing. You could see the cello pack of 6 cats and now the three differrent Post Cereal Boxes that had these free marbles. Good history!
  16. Boy, I must be a different type of DA (denseass) as I don't recall ever hearing about the story not being true about Wissmach, etc. So, Edna, the following information, posted by Ron Shepherd back in 2002 after talking to Dave McCullogh, was all BS? Here is the post: ----------------------- More Champion Furnace Marbles Info Posted by Ron & Paula Shepherd on 12-15-2002 on Marble Addicts Board After Marvella's Marble Show, we received a phone call from a collector in Canada requesting more information about the Champion Furnace marbles. Because of his previous connection with the Champion Agate Co, I called Dave McCullough (JABO) and asked for any details he might have about these marbles and this is what he told me: In the mid 90's Roger Jones, a very knowledgeable glassworker at Champion, used glass from the Paul Wissmach Glass Co in Paden City, WV to wash out the tanks when changing runs. This was done a couple of time a month. The reason for the fractures is that the marble glass was not compatible with the glass from Wissmach (Wissmach makes plate and cathedral glass). Mr. Jones told Dave that the yellow glass from Wissmach worked best for his purposes and I suppose that is why yellow furnace marbles are the most common color. BTW, this practice would have stopped in 1996 or 1997 when Mr. Jones passed away.
  17. Same here - not in any of hte pictures that I have saved. Cool box - yours hopefully?
  18. Never heard of an Easter frog so that is my guess...cute!
  19. Nice link - good pics of Tinsley Green.
  20. I can't explain the reasoning but Sami is a very knowledgable collector..
