  1. Cool boxes - haven't seen the one with 3-way crosssthrus - just 'nornal' Japanese cat's. Neat Santa box, too.
  2. Pretty pastel colors! I personally like those better than the 'standard' colors...
  3. Here's a picture of the ashtray and a pot - neither one mine.
  4. Looks like a fun bunch of marbles to go through - might be some keepers in there...
  5. I think 70's is right, Don. I looked through my Vitro and Gladding-Vitro packaging and the G-V ones seems to be the closest match. Here's three bag pics that have some similar colorful ones.
  6. Here's what was posted on one of the other boards about the Cairo Show: ------------------ The West Virginia Marble Festival in Cairo will be held in the Community Building on Saturday May 1, 2010 from 10 AM until 3 PM - -Admission is free to all participants and marble dealers may set up starting at 8 AM. There is no charge to the public for admission. Buying, selling and trading of marbles of all kinds are part of the program. Free marble identification available- - so bring yours. Wonderful food will be available for purchase on site. Road work on Main Street so follow the signs for free parking. There will be no Friday night event this year at RC Marshall Hardware. However, there will be a marble presentation and education program at the West Virginia Museum of American Glass in Weston from 11 AM until 4 PM on Friday April 30.
  7. I think David is right on. Here's one of the Alox mesh bags
  8. Nice scores, Bill! Is the red, white and green a Pelt or what?
  9. Very sorry to hear about your dad, Chuck. You and I talked about him at the Orange County Show and you said he was gradually declining. As you said, he is not suffering anymore. My prayers and condolences to you and your family.
  10. That's great! Wonderful showing by both!
  11. Here's a picture I had saved from back in 2001 - described as oxblood and black beads - no idea whose.
  12. Wow, good find! Odd patterns on those but makes them prettier.
  13. Hey, I did that. Opened up 8 more screens and then voted on each one. I then checked afterwards and re-opened a new screen and it had only gone up one vote, from 1408 to 1409. Even though it seemed to let me vote, not sure if it counted them all. But, it is on my favorites so they'll be one-a-day anyway...
  14. That is sad to hear. He was just at the Orange County Show and had a great time. He was a great sports fan, too. He had mentioned his health problems in the past but seemed great at the show. My condolences to Jean and the family.
  15. Here's a couple Alox bags that I have with shooters. One came via Nancy Frier, daughter of previous owner (or current owner of remaining artifacts).
  16. When I went on now, the voting was closed - 1398 was the total. Congrats to John - I'm sure he'll let us know what happened. Good experience for all and, again, great work John!
  17. Yeah, there's a variety of oddities in cat's-eyes. While that might be a 10 vane (depends on Steph's keen observation of maybe debris making two out of one), the basic cat's-eye like that is a 9 vane so that would be an error type for the 9 vane making 10 vanes. I have some with a missing red vane so it is an 8 vane but nothing like the 'real' 8 vane type cat's-eyes. The error ones are neat and I consider them to be a main part of collecting cat's-eyes. There are a ton of varieties besides # of vanes. Some years ago I started sorting by cage, center style, etc. Then width of vanes on the cage style. Then, with the center style (ones where the vanes comes out from the center of the marble). There are some 'shrunken' vanes where all 3 or 6 are in close to the center. Then some that are halfway out to the edge. Then ones that are fully out to the edge. Of course, there are some of the center style where there is a gap between the starting of the vanes in the center (they don't touch) and then combine that with some of the aforementioned types and you get more. You can see where this is heading and I have not even started with colors. Some have one color on one side of the vane and another color on the other side, etc., etc.......
