  10. http://chinesechecke...no/history.html http://www.familienb...piele.de/halma/ stern-halma patented 1892 in Germany was the exact game we call Chinese Checkers. With the large German population in Ohio it is easy for me to believe the early dates. Here is some of the best info I found http://thebiggamehunter.com/games-one-by-one/halma/
  11. Steph, I think we need to bring into account that in the 30s many newspaper articles were only working on information for their local area. They rarely even knew what was happening in the next town or city, let alone in other states or across the country. Not too much info would have been traveling very far on or about a game. I can't see any teletype machines burning up getting the news out on Chinese Checkers.
  12. 81 marbles in the 30-300 each range. Beat up box 300-800 range. add up divide by 1/2 for sale as a group. good chunk of change. Edit: The 300 may be a bit high
  13. Please check your private messages. Top right of page, small envelope.
  14. There was major contention that it was simply a later version of the box. As the machining printing etc to make those boxes would have probably out weighed profit.
  15. Got plenty of Handgathered slags. Now if you have some handgathered opaques lets talk.
  16. Got middle left one back earlier in the year at the Seattle show. Sold it a few years ago and regretted it. Its back home!
  17. The box is also way too deep to hold the marbles securely and would not have been sold that way unless it was for much larger marbles.
  18. I know I do not find those types here. Very nice!!
