  1. If I had paid any where near that for a marble I would not like someone bringing up the idea it may not be what I thought I bought, No big deal, just giving an opinion.( and It appears many long time collectors agree)
  2. If you are questioning whether it is old or not, I would say you did not miss a thing. Bert goofs on occasion IMO.
  3. I know what Morphy called it, in that auction, but the red devil should have the same construction as the blue devil. And the classic examples have an almost opaque maybe slighly translusent base IMO
  4. Neat marbles for sure but I see a strange blue Devil and a very beautiful striped translucent
  5. Being made in Amsterdam seems much more logical than thinking they were being made in East Germany in the 50s when the East Germans were struggling to even get enough food to eat, let alone waste precious gas fueling furnaces to make toy marbles. And we have seen the proof that marbles were made in Amsterdam during that time.
  6. maybe similar enough that one may want to make that assumption.
  7. I am about 99.9% sure that box was backfilled
  8. It was a city project being done when the back hoe operator exposed the marbles
  9. The Penny King Labels were not in that find And I do not believe the original bags were either. About 99% sure about that. And if the bags were found with the headers wouldn't that mean that is how they were sized originally. And as Al stated these are different labels than the ones from the warehouse find. Guess we will have to agree to disagree but that bag looks 100% original to me.
  10. most in post 9 look like the ones from the find 11 does not and some Clyde shows do not look like like they are from the find IMO. And most folks forget the single color striped transparents that were released in the first wave. The guys were smart. Throw away the crap, put the junkier ones out first and you will always make the best money as you release better ones each time. Thats how they did it. Smartly and with a plan
  11. because I talk better than I type. And it does not matter to some folks whatever I say they will believe them to be fakes. I would rather expend the energy and tell the whole story to those that care enough to PM me. Just typing that wore me out.
  12. Hope Dani took real good care of you today!!!!!
  13. I have seen those before and I believe they are original, I have had 2 other types of double headered bags. Notice the midseamed bags. Those are early
  14. Darn that can of worms, you did it now. Just what is an "Exotic" I have a hard time with the name. Unless one can prove it is an example from the one particular discovery are all extra nice CACs, "Exotics"., And the pipe dig discovery happened, I got to talk to someone involved and they are attempting to get back to that glory hole. (it won't be easy) I have the whole story on the different varieties the junk and the beauties. I have seen pieces and damaged types. I also know why and when the different types were distributed and why they were sold certain ways. One reason and one reason only, "to make the most money possible" . Any one want to hear the very logical story PM me.
  15. Maybe they are trying to recoup some moneys they didn't get that they should have.
  16. Ah the beginning of the end for the shear person in the hand gathering team. With the automatic shears. Placed on the rolling machine. The gatherer would just place his glob over the shears and the glob was cut and droped to the rollers.
  17. much better! I think a light blue background really shows them off
  18. The way they are handled(mostly a necessary evil) and the glass and equipment resulted in a large percentage of less than perfect marbles, There were a few runs that had very good percentage of unflawed marbles. And when your turning out 100,000+ lots can be damaged.
  19. I believe there are at least 3 or 4 different types of holes in the Marble beads. The neatest being when a bubble is actually blown into the center of the large glob before it is stretched. The bubble stretches with the glass then forms a center hole when each marble is made. These were apparently drilled for use in some particular object. I like the caster idea.
  20. Do not be confused,. You have them in the right place.
