I have a few hundred or thousand dug Alleys that have the same looking thing and none of them have any aventurine or it on any aventurine. From mine and others samples the Alley color that seems to have this the most often is the lghter blue and red second. It seems to always follow the swirl pattern.

Appalachian From Ebay -- Cold Rolls? Test Runs?

What about the Hillbilly Magic and Indian Summer superman colors, with and without blue av. Dave considered a white base with these colors a long time ago and did it. -
Mike tried to PM you with no luck. I would probably take all you have for sale. Pm me or email me.

More of the Alley thumb pots have no marking at all than ones which have Braun and Corwin on the bottom. You can tell the difference by the more swirled glass in the Alleys, also the Alleys are a little less quality than Akro. If you take close measurments they are different. Since you are not selling the thumb pots they usually sell for about $15.00-$30.00 each. A Great deal ! I just recently went to the Akro convention and Akroware auction. There were several thumbpots in the auction Akro and Alley and none sold for less than $15.00 up to $30.00 . Plus yours do not have the hole knocked out of the bottom. That can decrease the value with some collectors.

Appalachian From Ebay -- Cold Rolls? Test Runs?

From what former Vitro plant manager Blaine Lemon who's favorite marble was a Parrot. He told me a Parrot had a white base not clear. -
No Ruby Slippers. I have never seen a 11/16 Ruby Slipper.

Is the red harder to come by or people are seeing a multi color marble instead of a two color ? A buyer may be expecting multiple shades as the picture shows. The picture should reflect the true marble not extra colors.

Wvmcc Members Passing On The Marble Legacy
wvrons replied to Columbusrockhound's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Mike i don't know if they received a pin etc. or not ? That would be up to their group leaders. -
I have a different opinion. Myself and two other WVMCC members spent last Thursday and Friday with about 100-125 cub scouts. All from the Marietta OH area for their yearly day camp. They received marble history, viewed vintage marble collector displays, and played three different marble games. Those games were played wiith Jabo so called special run collector marbles. We gave away over 4500 old and new assorted marbles to the scouts. Those included the Jabo collector marbles and Sammy's Mountain Marbles. Each scout received a bag of 26 assorted marbles and included a marble game booklet. Each cub scout was also allowed to pick their choice of six additional marbles from a tub of assorted marbles new and old. There were as many Jabo collector marbles picked as vinatge collector marbles. Marbles were threw in the grass for them to find. When asked almost if not every cub scout had marbles at home and had played a game with marbles. There is a interest in marbles with the young. There is newer marbles being made and has been made in WV and OH that are used for play. I will not agree with Noone. Maybe the majority of newer marbles were made for collectors but Noone is not correct, some are definately used for play. I am sure all the 2 inch German onionskins, lutz, etc. handmades were not used for play. How many of the boxed sets of Peltier comics were used for play? I have always been in disagreement to say that "Noone will play marbles with any of them." I have witnessed these marbles played with since and before 2008 until last week. I have seen thousands upon thousands of these newer collector only marbles gave away to children to play with. I have seen many children buying these new collector marbles. Most of them cannot afford a Akro eggyolk oxblood. Not directed at any one person. More gloom and doom here as usual. I see it post after post every week. So does anyone else who wants to look. Marbles being made for collectors only. No interest from the young in marbles. Marble prices dropping, they will be worthless. Marbles are not a form of art. To many marble shows. Not enough attending marble shows. On and on. Who is to blame ? The marbles ? Spread enough vinegar and it will be sour fermentation. The days should be more enjoyable spreading honey.

Hi Steve. I am Nola Morgan and I need to add my two cents to this situation. I met you for the first time at one of our club's marble shows. You were with two friends of mine and Ron's and the three of you had just returned to the show from a trip to Ravenswood where our friends had obtained several Ravenswood marbles from the inside of the building. We were excited to see the marbles and the possible opportunity to see the inside of the Ravenswood factory. At that time you gave us your name and phone number. Later we did get in touch with you and you agreed to meet with us and take us inside the building. We met in the parking lot across the street from the church that is located adjacent to the marble factory building. You did take us into the building and led us through the maze of car parts to where two upright concrete tiles were set into the floor. I got down in one tile and Ron got down into the second. The entire time we were there, you were within two feet of me. I proceeded to scratch around in the very dry dust which Ron and I later thought might have been floor sweepings. I did find a few marbles and some cullet and I did put them in my pocket. I did NOT do it in a secretive manner--I did NOT try to hide my actions from you. Maybe I presumed too much, but I knew that you had permitted our friends to remove some marbles and did not mind us doing the same. At that time the building was actually owned by the heirs of Mrs. King . After we left the building, the three of us discussed the possibility of Ron and I getting back inside at some future date. You indicated that this might be possible. In the coming months we made several attempts to contact you. The last time I talked to you was at the grocery store in Ravenswood where I happened to run into you, your wife and son. I again asked about us going back into the building. I cannot remember exactly what you said, but I do know that you did not say anything that indicated that you were angry with us from our first visit or that you did not intend to ever let us into the building ever again or that you thought that we had stolen from you. After all the years that have gone by since that day Ron and I went into the building with you, I was shocked to read your post of the two people you let into the building who filled their pockets after being told that nothing was to be removed. My memory of the visit does not include any warning that nothing was to be removed. As I stated above, I did put some marbles in my pocket and that was done with you watching me. Apparently I presumed too much when I presumed that you did not mind or you would have said something at the time. If we thought that you considered our taking a few of the marbles as stealing, we would not have continued to contact you to go back a second time. After we left you on the day we were in the building, Ron and I went to MacDonalds for lunch. I tore the top off of my hamburger box and put the marbles and bits of cullet in the box. Those marbles and cullet are still in that MacDonald's box at my house. Like Ron, I do not want to remain in possession of what you must consider "ill gotten gains". I am sorry that you have harbored these feelings against us all these years. I have to assume that it is Ron and me that you refer to in your earlier post because it fits too close not to. I do not like to be called a thief which is pretty clear what you have insinuated. Therefore, I too will be returning the marbles and cullet that I have proudly kept just as they came to my house as a wonderful memory of the time Ron and I got to go in the Ravenswood building. I too apologize for what I can only believe was a misunderstanding.
