Happy New Year 2023 show some weird!!
wvrons replied to akroorka's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Those Heaton boxes are rare and hard to find. I have owned two in 25 years. I still own one of them and hope to keep it a few more years. Wow a Roy Rogers card in a bag of marbles from Japan. They knew how to market their marbles. I got to shake Roy Rogers hand back in about 1955 or 56. He was a hero of many then. How I would have liked to have had a picture of that. I collect a few of the Roy Rogers items, pistols, spurs, original movie posters, a logo marble, etc. I have never seen this bag before. Something else to hunt for. -
I got lost, to many for me.

One of the most common Alley marbles. Center is a later newer MK. The right is Peltier.
-
Tri Lite. Most all true Tri Lites are very nice. They are some of the oldest Vitros. Older marbles better glass, better quality, tougher glass, just all better. Most Tri Lites are under valued compared to the same time frame marbles of other companies.

Wrong red and yellow colors, very wrong blue base, two different blues. Total wrong pattern for Peltier. These fakes or modern contemporary are made much closer to the originals than these above are. Vacor does a better job than the two above.

I thought that I needed new glasses. I just got new ones last week. Left Is rare Ravenswood Solar Flair. The middle is Akro eggyolk and oxblood patch. Which twisted on one end. These eggyolk and oxblood patches with different shades of blue base were made in several sizes. Some of these are 7/8 to one inch size. Plus the shade of oxblood will vary much with these from darker to lighter oxblood red. The last is a Akro Liberty messed up or error corkscrew.

The three large ones are 100% Jabos. I was there when they were made.

The first two are Heatons. The last is probably Alley from St, Marys. But if is has much white it may not be ? I cannot tell much as the pictures are so far away. I enlarge them and they are grainy and out of focus. The Heatons have a name. You can check Chuck Summers(cheese)long post and great pictures for named Heatons in General Marble Talk here.

The two originals are either Jabo or maybe Cairo Novelty. Color combos and pattern can fit either one.

There is a recent new Cat Eye book out with great details in it for US made and all Cat Eye type marbles. Some people think the prices or values in the book are higher than what most consider the average. Great information for any and all Cat Eye marbles.

The new MK book will be large and very detailed. It will be released this spring. It is done and complete. Gerald did a great job with it for sure, which I knew he would. It took many years but the wait will be well worth it. It will answer so many questions. There will not be many unanswered MK questions left. Nothing near or close as this has been done on MK. I was so privileged not long ago to see it and go thought it some. I will for sure own one and have one in my hands for study as soon as it is released. The marbles pictured, are four sides or views of each marble. If a MK marble has a name, that marble is in there, plus all the others. I have doubts that any MK package of any type is not in the book. Includes details of the package. Some rare and very seldom if ever seen different items. packages, marbles and more. Like I said it is large and detailed.

I would say you for sure got the board free and some of the marbles for free. If you think you got a good deal, that is what matters. I remember my first board and marbles like this. I still have it and others.

It is not a Ravenswood or Ravenswood Solar Flare. The Solar Flare's are 95% or total opaque. They have gray brown and or blue. The swirl pattern, style, design on the marble in question is not Ravenswood. It is either CAC or Alley. The pattern is not like most Alley corals which were all from the later St.Marys site. Other than a unusual pattern it fits all other traits for Alley Coral or Exotic Coral. Jeff has it in hand and if he says it is not CAC then that only leaves Alley. I would put it with my Alleys. It is a Alley pattern just not the normal Alley pattern for his coral marbles. It is close but just a little more pointed tips or turns and colors twisted a little closer or layered more. It is Alley.

Very few if any multi(three & more) colors fancy Sammys are 3/4 inch. Sammy did a very short run(a few hundred)of plain marbles on the 3/4 machine late this year. I agree there are DAS but not the numbers like Jabo and they don't seem to be spread as much as Jabos. I may have been high at 99.5 % that may need to include DAS. Maybe 90% chance of Jabo and 9.5% of DAS. How many 3/4 DAS has showed up here in the last year ? How many 3/4 Sammys has showed up here in the last year ? How many 3/4 Jabos has showed up here in the last year ?

A 3/4 inch fancy swirl, top of the list for odds is Jabo. Without seeing the marble, when I hear 3/4 swirl, my first though is Jabo. Then if it is three colors or more, or of it has aventurine, or lutz, or sprinkles, or oxblood. It has a 99.5% chance of being Jabo.

Is a 1/2 inch or less opaque swirl Vacor common?
-
100% Jabo. If it is near 3/4 , a swirl and three and more colors, very high odds it is Jabo.

Merry Christmas to everyone !
