Just send them towards Houston.

Weldon (sissydear or Edna's husband) has been placed in the hospital.

Seems his blood count is very low.

They are running tests.

Sorry, there's not more info, but thats all I know.

I will update when I get more.

After him being there for over 24 hours, here's the latest I have from Edna...

They have given him 5 pints of whole blood trying to get his white blood cell count up from 4 point something.

After the lab work came back they have given him Iron and potassium as his blood work up showed him low

on both of those as well.

He is scheduled for the camera from both ends today in hopes they can find where the blood is leaking from.

"IF" there is no leaking then they have to start trying to figure out if the bone marrow is not making enough, or,

if something like the spleen is absorbing too much..

Regardless, Edna says he looks better even though he says he doesnt feel any different after 5 pints of blood.

She did ask me to tell everyone thanks for the thoughts & prayer's.

She was going to print them off & take them to him to read once she gets enough time @ home.

Thats it for now. More when I get it.

I am home for the night and if Weldon's blood count stays up tomorrow, he may get to come home. Bo has things a little confused. His blood count was 4.2. He had less then 1/3 of the blood he should have. After 6 units of blood his blood count was 9.2

They also gave him iron intravenously and potassium tablets. After the colonoscopy and endoscopy of the upper GI, they found a hiatal hernia. The gastroenterologists thinks that the hiatal hernia was pinching the stomach and small amounts of blood were lost over a long period of time. It was lost so slowly that his body adjusted and he really didn't know how bad he felt. Iron was lost slowly over that long period of time. Without iron, he could not make red blood cells. His white cell count was also low.

If that is indeed what was going on, the iron tablets daily and prilosec or protonix daily is supposed to fix him. They will check his blood in the morning and if it has not dropped lower he may get to come home. He's had endoscopy and cat scan. The only abnormality they found was the hernia. The doc said he's probably had it his entire life. If the blood has dropped tomorrow they will keep him and the blood specialist will take him over. That's all I know.

Thanks for all the prayers and good wishes. Weldon read them all last evening and he says thank you too. Edna

Weldon was released from the hospital today about 5:00pm. the blood specialist couldl find nothing wrong with his blood at this time. The gastroenterologist prevailed and he is home with prescriptions for iron and protonix (I think that's the name) and he has to have his blood count taken again next Monday and see the blood doctor next Thursday. The gastroenterologist will see him again in 6 weeks. We are very hopeful this will take care of the problem. Thanks again for all the support. Edna
