Steph
Box looks somehow connected in back.
david Chamberlain
I dunno. To be that primo mint and then for the marbles to be sort of a hodgepodge leaves it open to suspicion. Think about it. David
Alan
IMO: I own shoes older than that box.
Steph
Okay. I have the basement and the old cans and the dirt. Now I need to get me one of them Akro stamps! But where? Akro Stamps R Us?
popculturizm
the Marbles are interesting, If I'm not mistake there is a 15 year+ span on those types, and the one in the lower right hand corner has a bit of a pelt look to it. IMHO (or not) was this an FleaBay item?
Steph
Now that you mention other makers, that looks kinda like a Vitro Yellow Jacket at the lower left. Sometimes things slip in, even in legit lots, but this is rather a mix, ain't it. Yup, Fleabay.

popculturizm
I was going to say Vitro (really I was) but did Akro make Flintie's and Popeyes at the same time? Is this by the same guy from last month with the "Christensen" slag box?
Steph
Not the same guy - unless he's using a different ID, which wouldn't be the first time that happened. Hmmmm ... I should go look at that. Sometimes his alter egos have the same style. That's how I caught one of them. I think you could be right about that version of the flinties being earlier than popeyes. I'm not totally certain though that they didn't overlap, so I'll have to leave confirmation to someone else.
Steph
This seller gives a different state as their address, whatever that might mean. Here's the auction. I guess linking to it can't count as a spoiler, since everyone seems to think it's already smelly. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180472476813

Delbert
The box is satin lined and the compartment for the marbles doesn't match the rest of the interior. The paper covering the box is embossed and the box is stepped for the lid, That's a box for a hairbrush set or something like that.
zaboo
just the bag would make me run... or ROFL, looks like he stamped the bag with the same stamp on the box. and there's people bidding on it?!

It's basically a Jeweler's box. I pick 'em up where ever I find them, to display and give-with that type of item I may be selling in my co-op space... Wow, with my stash, we could recreate marble history!!! ROFLMAO

david Chamberlain
The thing that is still rather confounding is why with the box and bag being kinda spiffy even though bogus that this person or anyone would scuttle matters themselves with such a strange mix of marbles when you could as easily provide some continuity with relatively inexpensive Akro patches or whatever. Bizarre! David

Steph
Yeah, I bet that's it. Makes sense if the seller got the box from Pavcraz. Pavcraz so far has been THE source for these. He's the guy with the Akro stamps. And he puts them on all sorts of boxes. Every other example I've seen like this so far has traced back to him, sometimes through his alternate identities or his friend in Washington state, or one guy in the UK who was reselling something he bought from Pavcraz. That could very well be it. Heck, if I'd still been watching Pavcraz auctions, I woulda known. But I gave up on following him some time ago. popculturizm
yes he confirmed that he had purchased it in Dec. on eBay from Pavcraz, I give him credit for standing up, he was not aware of it being bogus, until we brought it to his attention.
