Just a little back pedal in this topic,,,,,,sprinkled lutz numbers per ld of goldstone,,,,,,,in frit form,300 to 400,,,in dust form,,maybe 1/4 less,,,,the numbers vary a little,if Ronnie is poking me with a stick,when Im sprinkling!---LOL

Dont have any numbers per pound,on feeding rod,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I guess Ill have to work on that!

It has been told to me by several vintage marble collectors that gold aventurine is given the name "Lutz" because Lutz himself made the look famous when he used gold aventurine in his work.

Was gold actually in the glass rods that were used to make the hand-made marbles we call Lutz ? If not.....what was it because that element was stable enough to use in the rods and produced what we call "gold" on a very consistent basis....it wasn't random.

For some reason Fool's Gold keeps popping up in my mind.

Gold aventurine is copper based glass and if there is too much heat, it can turn an oxblood color. Encasing gold is an entirely different technique because it burns up if the actual flame hits it directly. Never try to encase Fool's Gold ever as the fumes are deadly!!! As a matter of safety, one should always do their work in a well ventilated area when working with any metals and glass.

Aventurine is a glass and Lutz is a person's name that used gold aventurine in his work.
