lstmmrbls
the brains were Champions.
Gnome Punter
the brains were Champions. That's what I call em. brain Coral. Working on filling a bag up, if they were not so bland at a distance i would fill a jar up. Odds are i will palm them off on ebay and buy more bees Now. I do have alleys that are close, in the translucent base, but the filaments are much broader than champion so I do not see how they could be confused. lstmmrbls
Not sure what marbles Gnome is talking about but the Champion Brains were Opaque swirls. The "wadded into a ball" marbles. Similar to this style but much more folding.
Al Oregon
Here's the Champion "brain" type swirl - forget the Ravenswood notation in the picture.
ann
The only thing I can think of is that some of the one-color opaques found at one or the other Alley sites resemble the Champion "brains" in that they're very swirly, if you look closely. That may be what somebody's talking about . . .
clydetul62
Gonna muddy the waters just a little bit. From akro digs about 10-15 years ago. Its translucent lavender. Got it from Marble men. Who the main source for diggers.

lstmmrbls
There they are! I bet some folks would now say ALLEY but we were always told Champion for many years.?
Steph
Yeah, they do look like Alley to me. But glad we've pinned down the marbles. Thanks! I have something to tell the friend who was asking about them.
Steph
So one more question. For it to be a brain, the ribbon color needs to be purple? Or would other colors also count?
lstmmrbls
I have similar pee wees in 3 other colors.

Steph
So, okay to call it a brain even with different colors? I'm asking on behalf of a friend and I want to get it right.
ann
The first ones that were shown to me as Champion brains were yellow; I later found two blue ones that I thought might be brains, and was told they were. it's been my understanding that the color is not significant -- it's the squirmy pattern. On the other hand, I have assumed that a brain could be any single color. Can they be two or more colors also, as long as the pattern is . . . cerebrial?
