Steph
Someone asked me about the value of a lightning strike. Anyone wanna ballpark it? No picture available but I'll go back and ask about size and condition now.

Steph
Yes, thank you. I still don't have visual confirmation of the marble, or any info on its size or condition, but for right now my friend is very happy and at least knows to take good care of it. wediscount2
Steph, need to see a picture of your friend's marble as it could be a 10 dollar marble or a 1000 marble. Ronnie
lstmmrbls
size would be the first question? many new Chinese marbles have folks thinking they have a lightning strike
jeroen
I have one for sale. It is a hair under 1-11/16 inch, and in mint 9.7 condition. I am asking $2000 for it. So if someone is interested let me know
Steph
Such an appealing style. But they didn't catch on back when? I want to hijack my thread now and talk about marble rarity. I'll start a new thread ....

William Marbles
It's a single pontil handmade 1000% The camera didn't pickup the motion of the glass with the thin clear. Money Back if not happy.

Also at 5/8" highly unlikely to be one. I thought they were all >1", also that is a hit mark, not a pontil

William Marbles
Sure it was mine, had it for years. That's why I posted. I start my auctions low for traffic, usually at $0.01. The item will sell itself, no reason to put a high price. It's not polished off, just that well done; master glass worker no doubt. I'll see if I can get better pontil picture before it's packed up. EDIT http://www.vintagetoymarbles.com/Images/pontil (1).JPG http://www.vintagetoymarbles.com/Images/pontil (3).JPG Best I can do.... buyer hasn't paid for it yet... Another handmade that's impossible to photo... Oxblood caged Mica Blizzard in Blue... I'd say rare as well. http://www.vintagetoymarbles.com/Images/OxMicaCage.JPG Edited September 23, 2017 by William Marbles Photo's
sclsu
William those pictures (pontil3.jpg especially) show a hit mark, not a Pontil

Alan
As others have noted - that isn't a pontil. Its not a "master at work" - its just not a pontil.
Ric
But it is a cool marble, nonetheless.
I'llhavethat1
So nobody else thinks that looks like a pontil (or cutoff) on William's marble? Years ago I picked up a white and blue one similar to this (with a busier pattern) and after seeing it inhand figured it was Chinese or Bulgarian. I'm pretty sure it was handgathered/torchmade of some type.
