budwas
Could these be ruby slippers? If not could someone please post a pic or two of some. Thanks Bud
budwas
Could be peltier cherry bomb I'm looking for. Not sure what the proper name is. So I could use some clarification there also.
ann
I can't distinguish the white ribbons from the crescent-scan-highlights well enough to say. Are the ribbons thin or thick? (They could also be Vacor / Mega Roosters. Just can't see details well enough)

budwas
Another picture. I will call them thin Ann. And there looks to be cut lines on a couple of them.
cheese
Those aren't peltiers.
J_Ding
I can't quite tell either. How about Vacor Roosters?
budwas
Anybody have a cherry bomb?
Steph
In that quantity, very good chance those are Vacor Roosters. I'm not conversant in "Cherry Bomb". Here's a short thread on the subject: http://marbleconnection.com/topic/21858-peltier-cherry-bomb
winnie
This one was IDed years ago as Ruby slippers,it's 3/4. And yes yours are Roosters Vacor.

budwas
Well I'm still not convinced so I ordered some vacore roosters for comparison. The kids will get them when I'm done.
lstmmrbls
Vacor construction and coloring for the same type marble can vary greatly from year to year.
budwas
Galen, I can see the color being slightly different from batch to batch but why would the construction change? I'm not being a smart %÷€%, just don't understand.
Steph
In some years swirl ribbons can be strong and run deep. In other years, they be seem weaker and maybe more on the surface of the marble. Some Roosters can be mistaken for slags. Some look more like they have paint on the surface, with a texture to the white which looks distinctly foreign. That's just one example. And of course it would be more helpful with photos! Maybe someone can come up with better examples ... and pix.
Steph
Actually that sounds like a fun idea for a thread -- contrasts between Vacors from different years. But not sure how many people have contrasting examples on hand.
budwas
Anybody have any Akro cardinal reds for comparison to ruby slippers, cherry bombs and roosters?
ann
12 hours ago, budwas said: I can see the color being slightly different from batch to batch but why would the construction change? Some of it has to do with the age and condition of the tank and the nozzles, for lack of a better term. It can affect the depth and / or thickness of the ribbons, for example, or whether a patch is just on the surface or extends a little into the marble. Tanks, basically made of fire brick, wear out / wear down every few years and need to be rebuilt or replaced. The funnels through which a secondary glass is introduced into the tank (near the "drain hole" through which the molten glass stream will exit the tank) can vary somewhat in size through age, use, and replacement as well. The chunks of furnace brick or sand-like debris in some marbles? That's the tank deteriorating --
budwas
That was a very good explanation Ann. Thank you. Hope you all don't get tired of my questions.
Steph
Some Cardinal Reds here .....
