Thüringen Thursday

So here's the story on these recently posted marbles photographed in water . . . Quite a few years ago I went through a few gallons of old German marbles I had accumulated over the years. Many sold, I kept a few and the rest were destined for landscaping. Anyway, there were several that were pretty much beat beyond any monetary value but interested me enough to be spared from my landscaping. I recently found them in bag out in the garage and figured I'd photograph them before they wind up joining their brethren outside. 😄

This one is about 1 1/2"

I must be the brown/yellow combo and nice lattice that initally saved it.

And it was probably the pink on these . . .

Kind of a shame they're "underwater marbles". 😄

Nice! I like to do your gardening lol. I keep all my knackered German mibs, the reason being the larger one we're mosrly used for lawn bowling back in the day. I bought a 2 1/4 this weekend cheeeeap because of a fracture most likely from playing with it. It adds so much nostalgia for me. Also I've heard that 2" and up were custom ordered.

Well, I do not blame you for the addiction.
These are both top notch marbles and I am sure that you have been looking for some like these ever since.
I generally will go for the Red, White and Blue but that left hand one is too hard to pass on--- just a killer combo of colors and flash!
Thanks for sharing the images---very nice!
Hard to imagine topping these two but you will if you continue to---
Marble—On!!

Happy "Thüringen Thursday"  :pirate: a "so called" cased clambroth. Though I don't agree w/ the name this is what these have become known as, a bit on the HTF side.  I got this one from an Antique dealer I used to buy marbles from in Oregon some time ago.

Here's a pee wee swirls set from a FH Ayres games compendium. Having seen quite a few of these, it seems that Ayres went with either swirls or micas for their compendiums. Interested if anyone has seen other marble types on these boards.

I've always thought that latts would be much more valued if they weren't so common - very attractive marbles.

I think a latt was the first German handmade I collected, either that or a Sulphide I really can't remember ??  But yes, Latts are completely underrated marble in my book also.

Hello everyone. I have been meaning to take pictures of this marble for a long time and I finally got around to it to today. I have always loved Micas but this one is a little different than the average bear. Size is 29/32" with a ghost core and it reacts to a blacklight, I hope you like it. It' a favorite of mine ☺️DSCN7387.thumb.JPG.e94f3edded2a0fe142b7c65b4249b84b.JPGDSCN7387.thumb.JPG.e94f3edded2a0fe142b7c65b4249b84b.JPGDSCN7375.thumb.JPG.63ba76f3a554875447fc51fff9bd8fa7.JPG
