akroorka
I have often wondered about that coppery stuff on some marbles. I believe that Ron has shared in the past that they would fill pits in the rollers with copper. Marble—On!!

I've noticed this coppery stuff on some of my marbles and wondered why it was there. Thanks for sharing!

wvrons
The copper can also be from a penny, water pipe, or electric wire.

Yes, I can see myself tossing a penny in just to see what would happen---like putting a penny on the railroad tracks. I remember my brother putting a toad (dead one) in a can of peas’ at the local cannery. We were/are all capable of mischief---yum-yum toad and peas! Marble—On!! Fire1981
The train would stop at the mill in Buffalo Lake Minnesota where we had a farm. I’d stack up some pennies in front of one wheels and then watch the slow motion squish when the train started to leave. Simple pleasures are fun 🔥
