Nice Akro, I'm leaning more Carnelian than Cherry Ade. The last one is a Peltier, or dare I say, maybe a . . .

I think it's a Carnelian not a Cornelian

Here is a nice ¾” Akro Agate “Cornelian”, a company name (not Carnelian).

The first set of images shows a backlit image on the left, both images are under a fill flash. They cannot all be backlit with this effect. This one sure looks like a backlit slag. In hand, under normal light, Cornelian’s appear to be opaque.

As you can see this one has a nice “tail”. I still believe that is a “machine made” and not a transitional. Slag’s that are machine made will show the same “tails” sometimes.

These marbles show up in a darker red/maroon color but I believe that they were all dug or “experimental”. In the early days of collecting machine-mades folks called the darker ones “bricks”. No Oxblood is involved. There is a collectors name for this darker color but it escapes me--- (help me out here mulberry?).

I would not consider Cornelians to be common. The white on these is not usually as robust as the one I show.

When I backlight this one with torchlight it has an out of focus “fisheye” effect just like a “Flintie”---hmmm I wonder---was the same glass recipe used??

Just another great reason to back-lite your marbles—you just never know.

Marble—On!!!

There are only two marbles (right and left) the bottom shows them back-lit.

Yes Ric, I get it,

Carnelian-- left---Cornelian---right, imho--Great marbles.

This is what most Cornelians look like, hardly any white.

Marble--On!!
