  1. Hi Howie, I'm glad to see you here. I had a snow day a few weeks ago and all I did the whole day was hang around and play with marbles. I hope to meet you and your Dad in Kokomo next fall, and I have a feeling that if you show up, you are going to head back home with a pocket full of cool marbles.
  2. Your boredom is our gain. I like these a lot, especially the Jasper-ish looking ones. And like Derrick, I don't get to see them very often. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Thanks for showing those, Mike. They are cool. I have this in a format that should make a nice 8" X 10" print. The stamps will likely turn out bigger than actual size, and the resolution should be fine. PM me your email address if you're interested. It's a pretty big file.
  4. Winnie, I pulled these from a couple of hundred I found in a collection about a year ago. Most of them were beat beyond help. Among the ones that only had surface abrasions and hazing, and some minor dings, I thought these were interesting enough to have polished - even though they are standard size, many have nice cores and colors. They weren't collectible when I found them, and they aren't collectible now, but they sure look nice in a little glass vase in the window. As for the pontils that were saved on a few, the polisher apparently knew what they were doing, and I'm very please with the results.
  5. Moons on the moon, very creative. I like it!
  6. I think it looks related to this one . . .
  7. Nice Alley, It looks like white in a colored-trans base, a middlings example of the Calligraphy style I'd say . . .
  8. Nice Multicolor Swirls . . . here's one with extra color.
  9. Great thread . . . A Flaming Red Zebra . . . or a cool Rainbo. lol
  10. Rainbos are so cool - endless variety. Here's one of my oddballs.
  11. Really, Craig . . . what a sweet assortment of marbles - nice find!
  12. Happy Birthday, Edna! I hope you had a great one.
  13. If you are, Winnie, you won't be going alone. lol
  14. I don't know about yours, Winnie. But based on some CACs I've seen, I think it's possible to be both . . . handgathered and "seamed".
  15. Wow! What a fantastic piece of glass - probably one of the most interesting I've seen. Thanks a lot for showing it!
  16. FWIW, they look like American Agates to me. Although, I do find it interesting how much variation there is in those described as such. I've seen handgatherd, swirled, seamed, and a pretty wide range of colors/hues and base glasses called American Agates. Was there really that much variation in what CAC called AAs? It makes me wonder if it was more of a brand name to CAC, rather than a specific type of marble.
  17. I didn't know there were such beasts . . . sorta just called it like I saw it. I've never seen another so I'm guessing they're not real common. Anyone else have examples?
  18. I was thinking Navarre too, before I picked it up and found two pontils. But I think Navarre are hand gathered, with a single pontil. I think this one is cane cut . . . maybe it's just a "Jaw Breaker", and the uncommon purple color distracted me from that possibility.
  19. slag??? I've never seen another quite like it . . . two pontils, 25/32", very dark purple, but you can get some light through it, very little white in/on it, sorta caramelish or mellonballish or . . . strange. Any thoughts? Thanks. P.S. That is not damage in the lower left shot . . . it's as-made . . . thin white glass.
