-
yup mark...i went there to spend a week with my boy...i remodled their kitchen....
-
last sunday in indianapolis i found these rainbos...over 500....
-
youre right galen...the unscruplous diggers cause the closing of paden citys turn around dump site.....the cops got my infomation a couple years back and the honey hole is off limits for me....
-
rick...thats all part of the machine..at least thats what i meant...the set up would have to be exactly the same...and weall know that little differences can make a little change..at least thats what i think....you would prob hafta handle thousands of em to see a difference ....and look for it...
-
theres lotsa bootleg character marbles out there...jabo always buys the license..and the nfl -disney etc are way expensive....either china or mexico would be my guess
-
we would have to see one from the 30s that he gave away...i would think that all his interest in wv marbles and makers he woukld have lotsa different marbles to give away....alleys would be my guess and i would think that when mk made to move to paden city he was around to ask about makin a special marble...or howdyshell made em as a tribute...i heard from a high rankin officer at marble king that its speculated that his pink cadilac is bricked up in a storage room in the basement of the plant...rumor.... fact??...who knows and i guess we will never know that its true or not...maybe he had some cash to invest in the move???hense a marble named after him or just a collector name...not sure is the someone with lots of knowledge sure that he gave these away or was he too old to do that in 59-70????one thing i know for sure ednas pics were paden city marbles...when did pink die??? i researched and he died in 62 so maybe theyre a tribute and not the marble he gave away...or maybe theyre given the name by collectors in any case i believe the patry pics were made when he was in the last few years of his life or after he died...i never dug one at st marys in any condition....
-
they were dug at the paden city turn around dump site....the ones i found were all annealed fractured or half marbles...i think those big +1inch clear patch and ribbon were made bout the same time....just wonderin ....why would you ask that steph....haint this been covered before.....nothin like that were dug at st marys...remember there was a peltier machine used at paden city...i woulkd think it was there because of the fire and its still in use there mostly to make gems....so some paden city marbles differ slightly from the howdyshell machines....and the marbles made on the peltier machine....older mks like very late 50s or early 60s look different than say 63-64 productions because of new machines or different machines....you can see differences like where the ribbons touch or the shape of the patch..or other suptle differences.....maybe those different styles of what ednas callin (and they are)berry pinks were made on different machines there at paden city...

as simple as i can make it rich....if the base glass is white you dont count the white....its been like that for ever in marble collecting...sayin it dont dosent change it....i didnt make it up...
-
white is not a color to be counted if its the base glass, like marble king a vaneered marble...you cant change that...
-
never heard that edna.....those cubs were made at paden city tho and i suposse anythings possible ....
-
kewl...thanks al!!
-
heres the rest of the marbles that was in the bag....
-
never heard that term but some people come up with some doozies to help in their collectin...
-
edna...those transparent based cub scouts are from the mid to late 70s....they are neat....
-
it was in a bag that had the header removed....but they are st marys marbles....
-
especially in this size...got in a headerless bag from the st marys plant ..its 3/4 and its opalescent...i believe it would be a opal tiger...in all the digs there this is the only one ive seen
-
you can get those templates lots cheaper at craft stores ....dont be fooled into buyin stuff you think is designed for marbles ....a calipers set is more accurate if youre really into accuracy...but they can become pricey...

Marble King 15/16..these Are Newer Marbles
duffy replied to duffy's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
they musta been experimentals jack...they found a small ammount of em at the factory.. -
its not about marbles rich...its goes beyond that.........i think you should do what you say in a timely matter...not let months and months pass by... its unspeakable for years to pass....yes you did give me credit after you didnt and i had to remind you...i thought i was being blown off again.....i did get a nice box of marbles from you today....some schweet marbles in there...thanks for that....i think you do some nice work....i just dont like being constantly pushed back and back and given excuses like its too hot or when i get back from vacation.... until i feel cornered....its not fair...a couple months is ok but beyond that is tellin me the job will never be done...if i operated like that in my business i would never get another job.....i try to be fair and ask any of my ebay customers or other online customers if they dont get more...but they do get what we agreed on ...at least....i use verbal agreements-- nothing on paper ----just a handshake...sorry i got snippy with ya but now ive at least got some nice marbles..i think everybody oughta own one....but i wont be makin any more deals...its too much to worry if im gettin the shaft or not.,......thanks .....i do appreciate the marbles...but this thread was how not to packmarbles...
-
the huge box of marbles turned out to be 28 marbles.....i wouldnt blame the post office at all....whoever packed em would be the blame....the postmaster said they delivered em and thats that.....they cant control how an item is presented to them...maybe the post office on the other end couldve refused it in the way it came to them, but that would be assuming they were doin their job and not just collectin a paycheck...i dont care ,really...its all water under the bridge.....its a lesson learned for me....never take a man to his word and deal with people that says theyll do something-theyll actually do it.... i just used it for a tool in educating folks on how not to do something....i know that some people relish in the learnin part of marblin...even if they cant hit their ass with both hands...
