  1. Then my firmly-held opinion is -- I don't know what it is!
  2. Never thought of that! Entirely possible! Could you tell what the poor thing inside it used to be?
  3. Like 'em all, but you know that single-pontil oxblood and the furnace mib are torturing me, right?
  4. Is the green one glass? I've seen glazes "micro-sag" like that on ceramics, but I haven't (yet) seen glass do anything quite like that. But then I'm no bead person . . .
  5. I tried to buy one (ebay) a few weeks ago -- just for the novelty factor -- but didn't manage to. So I am, well, you know, spotted-dickless.
  6. I think ground pontils are a little less common than regular ones -- they seem to be older, and a little more expensive to produce.
  7. Uh, so you're saying that it's size that counts?? Of the, ah, spots, I mean?
  8. Yes! That's it. It also makes a great stocking stuffer, if you have just the right friend . . .
  9. I have some. And no, you can't have them! Until you get everybody else's. Then call me.
  10. That's it. The tin foil I wear on my head kept them from getting my address. If I took it off do you think they'd send me a catalogue?
  11. Those are the type of Alleys that usually show aventurine or lutz, or whatever. Nice! The marble with "copper metallic striping" that I was referring to is basically a transparent, white, and amber swirl with a few irregular, thin "wires" of copper threading across the surface. What did yours look like, Don?
  12. Wow. Speaking as one who only has 4 Czech bullet-mold marbles. Wow.
  13. I have one. The person I bought mine from has sold at least one more (to I don't know who, I tried to get that one too). Don't know if he has any more -- this was a year or so ago.
  14. Why Steph -- I didn't know we looked so much alike!
  15. I don't have any info but I was wondering where he was too -- just because I've gotten some very nice old handmades from him in the past and haven't seen anything up for sale from him in a little while . . . All of my transactions with him have been positive -- FWIW.

    How Many Colors?

If I had a camera I'd post a couple of my James Alloway mibs!
  17. Wow, those are interesting -- don't remember seeing any like that before . . .
  18. Thank you! I knew I had seen that signature / mark before, and on one of my own marbles, but couldn't think of it to save my life . . .
