  1. So, the "road" is running up and down on the bottom half of the marble and the "tunnel" is the ribbons of color that makes an arch on the upper half of the marble? Thanks for posting this by the way, I had been wondering what was meant by the term.
  2. Welcome Dennis! Glad to see ya.
  3. Here is a photo of the bag I was talking about.
  4. The No. 228 box came with a bag but I thought it was leather not suede. I could easily be mistaken though. Regardless, the bags from the No. 228 boxes had two yellow draw strings with no metal ends. The stitching was also yellow opposed to red as shown on the example above.
  5. Vitro on the left. Peltier on the right. I'm not sure of the pet name for the Vitro but the Pelt is called a "Bloody Mary" and is in the tracer family.
  6. That one turned a bit ugly the last time round if I remember correctly...
  7. Hey - I've seen that box before! Looks great in hand!
  8. Steph - do you have any information on the Harrisburg, PA tournaments by any chance? Here is what I have...it isn't much. 1923 (1st Annual) - 1924 (2nd Annual) - 1925 (3rd Annual) - 1926 (4th Annual) - Chappie Reidell 1927 (5th Annual) - Chappie Reidell 1928 (6th Annual) - Gladys Coleman 1929 (7th Annual) - Curtis Banks 1930 (8th Annual) - Earl Follett 1931 (9th Annual) - 1932 (10th Annual) -
  9. Dave, didn't you find one of these with AV a while back?
  10. When I stop drooling over the marbles, I'll type something more prolific...
  11. Here is a pee wee clambroth... 17/32''.
  12. It will be good to see you two again this year!
  13. I'm looking for empty solitaire marble boards if anyone has one for sale. I am looking for the circular style board with knob (or no) feet and the painted battleground area similar to the one shown below. I am not picky on the diameter of the board but I would like for the wood and paint to be in decent condition. If you have one for sale, please PM me or e-mail me ([email protected]) with a photo and your asking price. Thanks everyone!
  14. The first "Amana" show. Summer of 1977 in Davenport, IA. In the back of Gary Williams' Bail Bondsman's office. The show didn't actually move to Amana until 1978. The Amana show ran annually from 1977 until June of 2013 (36 consecutive years) when the Huxford's retired and I moved the show to Des Moines. Technically, this year will mark 38 years in a row that there has been a marble show in Iowa.
  15. Okay, I shot a few photos of the patch halves including the pearlized half... Here is the full gallery:
  16. Well said, Bob! Thank you for sharing your words with us that could not attend.
  17. You got it! I'll shoot some photos tonight and get them posted. Stay tuned.
  18. I have a flat of about 100 Peltier halves at home... including patches and even a couple of the pearlized patches. I could take some photos and post them tonight if it would be of any benefit/interest.
  19. Those are some nice boxes! Thanks very much for the plug. We are quickly approaching 500 items on the site and are expecting some additional upper end consignments in the near future. We hope everyone likes the site. Thanks again, Greg!
  20. Very terrible news indeed, Bob. Had he been ill? Please let us know if there will be arrangements.
