  1. Nice marble. Fridge vs. marble is not one I'd thought of, which just goes to show. Verniers instead of a ruler might cause some confusion. Great marble though, wow!
  2. I wouldn't have guessed Pelt from the pics, but maybe in-hand you can tell. The patterns can get wonky on the larger ones.
  3. Indian blankets could probably have their own topic but similar colors yes. Also, in the last few eBay years some red/white/black Akro's are referred to as "rebel" -type colors and there will be some confusion when it comes to who-made-what marbles when talking about specific nick"names" like rebel, superman, or golden rebel among others. Which is why it can get confusing some times. Not to mention the "hybrids" of blends that are out there and make a marble not appear as the way it should in order to fit a specific opinion or description
  4. Thanks Ann, it seems the ones ~1"+ show a "blizzard" pattern more than 5/8"s etc would. Your guess at one pic is as good as mine. .
  5. Some times the older Mica marbles in this size have more evenly distributed Mica. They probably took a bit more time in making the marble (think of most of it being positioned closer to the surface, not so much inside like you'd see on the smaller ones getting twisted randomly off a cane). One pic doesn't tell me if it's old or new but I've seen some older ones that look similar.
  6. That's a huge lutz, and will probably go for big dollars in original condition.
  7. I've seen a couple groups like that before where there are a bunch together, just that size. Would you trade some of your yellows for reds (I got a group that was mostly a bunch of red and blues).
  8. That looks like some dedicated cake making, she did a great job!
  9. Some swirls, some of these are grouped since they came together, not by company just swirls
  10. FWIW these didn't glow except for a couple slightly in the yellow parts. (makes it look orange). Maybe these are mostly just two color rainbo's, but i think at least the top right two are Kokomo. and the bottom pic.
  11. bigjohn, you mean primitive as in age or design? Or both? lol Yours is cool, what do you think it came off of? I've seen a couple on piano stools or tables before but those are only about an inch or so. The 78 meaning 1878 puts it in time frame for a handmade but instead of "Patent April 4 1878", maybe it's "patent applied for (4) 1878". Who knows, could be wishful thinking on my part and it's just some sort of manufacturer code that's partly illegible from the rust. but I'd love to know what they were originally mounted to.
  12. Looks like 4 PAT APL 78 but it's rusty That's a really interesting link, I was going to skip over the legalities at first, but interesting stuff. This is formed, not cast so the "marble" actually rolls. Cast claws probably wouldn't roll as well or maybe wouldn't be designed to roll in the first place, just slide.
  13. Al, I'm digging that first one, is there any blending or is it only pistachio green/black. Here's an odd combo.
  14. Thought this was pretty neat, usually these casters have a smaller "bullet mold" marble but this is definitely hand made. Even has what could be a patent date on the top which might be hard to make out in the pics. I don't know if there's a proper term for these casters since most are a more ornate "claw" setting so I called it a claw foot in the title. Any Patent enthusiasts around that can shed some light. I wonder if Germany would patent something like this intended for export? What do you think?
  15. So it turns out I was being proactive in my earlier post without having to edit. That's great. Maybe we'll see the proper Vacor with a similar pattern and yellow soon
  16. The Vacors I've seen like this (haven't seen them all...) are more of a red/yellow/black. Maybe I've got the ID wrong and those are rebelious Vacor wicked golden owls, er broken indian blankets. The lavender is pretty unusual. I'm really not seeing much resemblance to anything Akro. Therefor I've concluded my post is pretty much useless. Thanks
  17. I'll show my boating ignorance here: did the seats have a harness or seat belt to keep you strapped in? Or did you just hold on for dear life? Cool pic
  18. One of these days I'll get around to some newer pics (and maybe some nicer Akros). Some of the ones so far are crazy!
  19. Nice way of saving gas to boot! What did the one above the big onionskin end up being? Top right looks like it could be OK too if it's a vintage hand made
  20. Most of these should be in the right category, might be a couple that aren't.
  21. I think most of these are Master, not sure about the top left but it goes well with the group
  22. These reverse, but not on both poles like the first one. Pelt made = cool patterns .
