  1. -> insert pavcraz joke. Kidding, looks like a nice box for sure. without zooming in those ones mentioned as akro might be something else but other angles would definitely help. thanks for posting
  2. thanks Wayne, that does shed some light. I thought I read somewhere that an old Alox machine was around but I must have skipped over the details making the connection with Jabo, = my confusion. At least I was right about missing the point. I'd have a tougher time properly ID'ing an Alox marble than a Volkswagon for sure. lol
  3. Good car analogy but I'm not quite sure I get the point. It's pretty clear that a Volkswagon has a VW on the grille and Audi has their circles. Are you saying that if German Engineered cars are assembled in Mexico, all is good? I'm missing it entirely, I'm sure .
  4. I just read the other recent "camel box" thread, that's the same box (but not the same marbles) that I was thinking of.
  5. I think yours are some colorful swirly examples, Winnie. Here's some from another post, also around the same size but with really notable "orange peel" surface. I've got a couple similar ones, but less colorful/swirly. Did these come in Camel boxes or was that a different type?
  6. The purple white green combo's on some of those flames are awesome! Here's a couple more "Germans-types"
  7. Some great marbles! Good way to get things rolling JVV
  8. Nice 7-ups, they probably couldn't get far with a woman in a bathing suit on a bottle nowadays. I'll have to dig around but there may be a couple around here. Teal vs. Aqua might be hard to differentiate from pics
  9. That isn't a swirl? I'm sure the other side looks great too
  10. Putting opinions aside, are we talking about rows left to right or columns up and down. I think it`s a good enough pic to make a point, could even be sheeps wool as a background. What`s all good and great is that people today can readily tell Jabo`s from (more vintage) marbles. But give it some time, and see where we are then.
  11. 10-12 solitaire boards w/ handmades sounds like it could be a good show. Heck that would be a tough choice though
  12. Marbles with ground pontils, *edit*the pontils not visible in this pic.
  13. I wasn't kidding about beat to shit, but some of these have pontils and most probably aren't German - here ya go
  14. 150-200 years old might explain why mine are all beat to crap.
  15. Are we all looking at the same 18 and 19 pics? They really look like a different marble. That is some magic,
  16. Good point about the boxes, I'd wager they don't "smell" old either. Old paper/cardboard products usually have a certain funk to them.
  17. I'd like to see any other vintage cane-cut marble knock-offs. Those ones (although nice) still look pretty new.
  18. cool, sounds like a bit more steps put into repair than I originally thought so maybe "cooking" wasn't the proper terminology to begin with, but the results speak for themselves. I think it turned out great, good job
  19. I'd often wondered if "cooking" was limited to surface damage only or if "cracks" could be fixed with a torch. interesting
  20. Haven't seen a vintage marble with that pattern with those colors in that size, leaning towards non-vintage, but in reply to your question I'd say that's what's sometimes referred to as a ghost core on vintage marbles.
