Popeye on the blue and yellow akro. On the purple and yellow because of the colors I immediately wanted it to be a Popeye, but then I see it doesn't cork. Maybe it's a true Popeye patch -- one which was actually meant to be a Popeye cork but the spinner cup didn't spin.

That Akro could be a Popeye. The white is rather bright in the photo so I''m not sure if I'm seeing the clear and filaments that people want to see for a Popeye.

2nd from right is an Akro. All go Alley or Ravenswood on the rest.

I'll guess Alley on all.

Maybe Ravenswood on the bottom left. The tan base often says Ravenswood, but I think still sometimes you get an Alley ID out of them, so ? The other two on the bottom are Akros. The crisp red on the top middle makes me wonder about Christensen. I think Alley on the top left. Alley or Ravenswood on the top right.

Blackline All-Reds were introduced in 1959. I don't think the blackline style lasted long. So, let's round it to 1960.

Have not seen those before. Am trying to remember the name of the company which put licensed logos on marbles. Then I think they discontinued that because they couldn't compete with the unlicensed logo marbles which were coming from outside the U.S. Oh, yes, that was "Lucky Dog". It's possible they might still do some kind of personalization of marbles ... but they're not the ones on your machine.

Ugh, I hoped I would get them replaced before anyone noticed. Thank you for the reminder. I'm slowly shifting my thousands of photos from Photobucket to a different host. I'll make a big note to myself to fix this thread this week.

Oh, that says Vitro -- I misread and thought it said Akro -- same post applies after name change. But that's interesting backstory. I wonder about the "former employee" part, because by now former employees must be getting really old. It's believable that a marble company might have a gumball machine with marbles in it -- but I haven't heard of it before. I'm intrigued yet still skeptical.

It is a "fantasy" item. Though marbles were sold in gumball machines over the years, especially during the gum and sugar shortages of WWII and a little after, the gumball machines were branded with marble names like that. Usually the machines were advertised as working for gum, toys or marbles. Not specializing in marbles. (I remember one machine for marbles from well before WWII, and I can't quite remember what it looked like, but it wasn't that, and in particular wasn't Akro.) (So the machines labeled like that could be oldish but the labels were added later, probably after the machines stopped being used in stores.)

Not being a sulphide person, I can only play along. First view looked like a sheepdog to me. Second looked like a baying wolf. Maybe new pics without so much extra space around the marble? (That will stop the board software from resizing the marble down so small.)

Hi. Definitely Alley on top. Pretty sure about Jabo for the big one, #2. Alley seems a good thought on #3 but I don't recognize it like I do #1. Did you mean the 1st and 3rd measure 5/8?

With the small size they could have had another name. An 1883 article spelled "peewee" as "peawee" ... and also called them pony alleys.

I have seen clays with intentionally splotched paint. With these though I think the paint chipped off. Clays. Aka "Commies" back in the day.

Left is a Peltier Multicolor Rainbo. A popular marble. Right is another Peltier, an unusual combination. Without quite seeing the angle I'd like to see on the 2nd from left, I can only say my first thought was Vitro cat's eye, but some of the views have me unsure. Can we have a view of what's at the top of the marble in the first photo? Not sure at all on the third marble. Wacky Akro? Wacky Vitro? Something else entirely?

If those are pontils, then I guess those would be German melon balls. The marble to the right of those two is a Peltier Rainbo. The top left marble in the first photo is also a Pelt Rainbo. The top right in the first photo might turn out to be a Peltier Rainbo also. Would be good to see the seams on that one. Third from the left on the top row in the first photo might be a Christensen Agate. Probably some Alleys in there. Maybe some Ravenswoods.

Top right Akro. On the top left, if vintage then I vote Alley, if modern then Jabo. Since the right one on the middle row looks Jabo, I am kind of leaning that way on the tope left. Middle row left is Marble King Girl Scout. Maybe Alley on the middle row center. Bottom row. Middle and right -- considering Christensen Agate. Left ????
