When you have a few months under your belt, while it's still fresh, you can make notes with pictures about what you think would be helpful for a new person trying to sort things out the first time. Eh?

It's good to hear your perspective. What you're struggling over. I sorta wanna say, "We can start a patch thread and a ribbon thread". But then my brain explodes a little because of the trouble I'd have sorting some of the marbles into patches or ribbons.

I guess the answer to that has to be "yes", since all I see is slag there. But I'm not up to explaining the finer points of slags. I'm just at the "know 'em when I see 'em ... usually" stage.

I hear ya. The fried marble pix I've been looking at look more fractured and reflective. Here's hoping they turn out to be a treasure.

While I'm in the neighborhood, some Peltier feathering borrowed from Ray Tetrick's facebook wall today.

I think the blue is a slag, but it doesn't look like a Peltier. Peltiers are famous for having a "feathering". Not all Pelt slags did, but that's the sign that we look for to identify a Pelt in the wild. Ray Tetrick posted these on facebook today ... they show the iconic feathering.

My first thought is "fried marbles". Clearies. They were a big fad in the 1960's. But maybe I'm wrong and that will turn out to be something more interesting inside.

I kinda thought so too ... that the 2nd one might not have as many Peltier markers as the first but side by side with the first it looked related.
