  1. Actually, I'm thinking of older-looking marbles, not the modern handmades out of China. Some which were found at a dumpsite in Shanghai. (Possibly garbage dump, not necessarily glass factory dump -- I don't know which) And I hadn't noticed this one before, but left hand??
  2. The marbles I thought were made in China had left hand twists.
  3. Score one for the "maybe that just means the packaging is made in France" crowd. I hate when they say that about packaging marked "made in Japan" which I want to use as evidence that the marbles were made in Japan. But ?????????
  4. There's something so perfectly marbley about Marble Kings. Probably coz those were what I would have seen when I was little. And of course the green makes it so much cooler.

  7. I should have thought to compare image size before I made my guess about what No. 10 might mean.
  8. Doh, I never think of Carnelian. To me it doesn't look like the marbles I've seen in Akro Carnelian packaging, but maybe collectors call it that.

Cool. Thanks for posting. Both new to me.
  10. Does this link work to view all the pics? p.s., I just noticed a Vitro box I've never seen before.
  11. "I thought Jackson marbles never made it to market" Are you thinking of Davis?
  12. Here's an Akro chart. Click to make it a little bigger. I'm sure I have a larger copy somewhere if needed.
  13. I think 1/2" is 000. 00 = 9/16" 0 = 5/8" 1 = 11/16" 2 = 3/4" 4 = 7/8" 6 = 1" That might make No. 10 = 1 1/4". There is a reference to No. 10 MFC's here, but I don't see the measurement. I think those sizes apply to many/most/all American made. But German marbles could be different.
  14. Dang! Good luck. Are you sure you don't want to break those up into smaller lots? I'd think some of the Vitro items would have great appeal as standalones. Edit: and I made that comment before I even saw the Blackbeard's Treasure Chest box. But seriously good luck.
  15. If that has a name, I don't know it. It makes me think of Imperial, though not the type which is most commonly called Imperial. There were several different kinds of marbles which were sold in Imperial boxes and I wonder if this might have been one.
  16. I take it that's unusual? I don't remember seeing olive glass before on a handmade.
