  1. Roger, I'd call your first one a Muddie. (sp?)
  2. ... trying to think of something clever to say about Jimmy being surprised by the inscription in his copy .... but he never saw it. ;-) Can hardly wait to read it all. Mikey's in it?
  3. Steve, I think the black might be a spray on the surface. Not sure how it would be applied. I can't specifically remember what all colors have been seen inside. Been awhile. However, I definitely remember dark transparent colors. What comes to mind is dark amber and dark red. And I do for sure remember cateye-like structures being found inside. My best guess is that they took dark based marbles, at least sometimes transparent, applied black to them in a manner similar to how iridescence is applied, and then applied the splatter layer over the black layer.
  4. I love the stripes and blends. And also don't remember seeing them before.
  5. I think different colors of base glass were used for the Galaxies. Cat's eyes have even been detected inside some of them.
  6. What are your most colorful marbles - or your most colorful within any category? Most colorful Chrissie, most colorful Akro, Vitro, Alley, handmade, etc.
  7. as an afterthought I looked through more of their listings ... voilĂ  a flat pencil! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290475291573
  8. Couple more pix from the listing. Looks a little worn but looks fairly whole to me. Seller said it's functional. Yeah... carpenter's pencil, that's probably what I was trying to picture. I knew I had seen a flat pencil before but didn't remember where.
  9. Here's a new one on me. Supposedly holds a flat European style pencil (whatever that looks like). Eneeeway, I thought it was interesting. Not mine - it's on a buy-it-now so maybe it'll be yours! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360302223905
  10. That's ghastly. Ghoulish even. ... and the scammer at the center of this thread is STILL selling, under his other ID. aaargh.
  11. interesting. I had wondered what would prompt men to use the term. So that was in the 80's?
  12. Neat drizzle. A cute pair too. I can imagine the aventurine. I'm drooling over the thought of it.
  13. by opaques, do you mean solid colored marbles?
  14. I figure it's him. Here's a facebook page. (Did someone here already post it?) http://www.facebook.com/mike.rearic
  15. 31 negatives this month and he is still a registered user. I don't get it. Must be easier to sell on ebay than I thought. Maybe I'll jump back in.
  16. IS there a comprehensive list of shows somewhere? This looks like a running record of where they've been held in the recent past: http://marblemental.yuku.com/topic/371 Don't know how complete it is. I was kinda of hoping to see a Florida show and didn't. Maybe it doesn't exist anymore?

  18. A marble friend in the UK sent this link. So far the video hasn't loaded up for me. Hopefully someone here can enjoy it. Meanwhile, I shall keep trying. It's nice to know it's there even if I can't watch it. http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=17729 Description from the site:
  19. If you are in doubt, it would generally be best to assume Peltier. These days I often write "looks like a Pelt Rainbo" instead of just saying "Pelt Rainbo". Coz of course I can't swear that the marbles are Pelt and not Kokomo. Still, I know that unless they're one of the types well-known to be Kokos, the odds of them being Koko are very very very .... very low. That said, here's a batch at Joe's. And here's a thread which was started to showcase some Kokos which came from an original bag, and then it grew: Kokomo Examples
