  1. This board has been the most liberal board since day one when Alan started it. After he left it stayed that way and always had some sort of issues between members. I have seen far worst fights, but never seen beeing anyone banned for what they think of about an issue. Sure there has been over the top incidents that caused some people to be banned, but this is not the norm of this board. Please do not change your policies around. It would be a sad day. Sami
  2. Lou, I am actually very dissapointed to see Galen being banned. This is a strong departure of what this board has been all about all these years. Free speech! You don't like what he has to say, don't read it just like what you have been telling him to do. Sami
  3. I hate to be confrontational, but cannot help myself on this one. This is a response on Sue's last post on the other Jabo thread. Sue, I don't mean to change course on this thread, but it has been swinging in every direction already. These machinemade marbles have been produced since early 1920'ties as toy collectibles. It is written on original Peltier boxes 'Collect Them All'. They have survived all these years in peoples collections. Why is it so difficuly to understand why we collect them? Your jabs on machinemade collecting far exceeds in years against Galen's jabs on Jabo marbles. I don't mean to redirect the topic, but I thought this thread turned into manners of postings, giving opinions anyway and have nothing to do with the original post. Sami
  4. Galen, Trust me on this, If they knew you in person, they would not get upset in anything you have to say. Sami
  5. Rick, the foggy white base glass and the color green definitely gives it away that it is a Citrus family. I bet the base is translucent. I can't really see a yellow ribbon on that marble. Sami
  6. The first marble looks like later Rainbo from here with a slight chance of being an early Vitro. Does have a very nice glass. Second marble is for sure a NLR Citrus imho. Sami
  7. John, Absolutely gorgeous marble as usual. Can you tell us a ballpark figure how many marbles you have produced up to date? Sami
  8. Beachballs are some of the oldest and prettiest Vitros imho. Sami
  9. I didn't know Mike was making marbles. Nice looking marbles there. Sami
  10. No wander there is no match to old Peltier glass. Sami
  11. I think Alan nailed this one pretty good. These are old Peltiers. Here are three I have in my collection. Gorgeous marbles.
  12. Andrea, Here is a nice thread posted by Carole over at LOM, which is very useful info regarding this subject. http://www.landofmarbles.com/phpbb/showthread.php?t=14998 I don't think the ribbon depth is a clue on the age of a Peltier marble imho. Sami
  13. Very pretty marbles and great coloration. Top left marble has CA colors. Looking forward to hear more info on these. Thanks, Sami
  14. Bj, thats a great looking Pelt! Looks like 3 color clear NLR. Super! Sami
  15. John, I hope you'll do same run, same size boxed sets when you get a chance. Sami
  16. Carole, they look like either Rainbos or even Kokomos, but not older style NLRs from here. I maybe wrong though. Sami
  17. Sorry for the confusion. Red Bee and Ruby Bee are the same thing to me.
  18. To clarify this discussion whether its a Golden Rebel or Ruby Bee, a Golden Rebel is a three color marble with yellow base, 4 red ribbons and two black ribbons. Red Bee or Ruby Bee would be yellow base with Red ribbons (4 or 6). Aventurine is addition to both examples. Chuck's example looks to be a Red Bee. Sami
  19. Terry, I don't think I had the chance to see it when we met in Amana. I'd love to see it some time in the future, hopefully when we will be marbling at next Amana. Sami
  20. That is a gorgeous Pelt Terry. I think it is a very old one. Sami
  21. We, the marble collecting community, have suffered another loss today. Norm Brown passed away from a long illness on November 27. He was my best friend and roommate for many shows we attended and drove together. He will be remembered for his straight forward personality and wisdom. Rest in peace Norm. Sami
  22. Ronnie, there is nothing wrong liking the as made orange peel. As made imperfections do not bother me at all too. I buy near mint marbles also. I just do not like to pay a marble top grade price, when in actuality there are orange peel, creases, other as mades or damage. You stated that orange peel is a sign of age and quality and that is wrong information for the new collectors who do not know the facts. Sami
  23. Orange peel is an as made imperfection and therefore downgrades the marble. It will be still in mint grade, but the value will be lower, so is the eye appeal. It was not enough imperfection to reject the marble from distribution, just like out of round marbles. This applies to any old marble, not just Peltiers. That is probably what Galen was reacting. Sami
  24. David, thats a Lemon-Plum from the Citrus set. Sami
