Actually, I've never heard of a green brick until I started looking at this site. -

I've never seen any of those before! A 1" bumblebee must be impressive! -
Also, I might venture to say, the cat'seyes that have a greenish tint to the base are most likely foreign made (Japanese) and worth pennies. Look at Stephen Barr's You Tube video for more about cateyes. Very informative. BTW, the marbles in your first pic look especially fun to pick through.

Hi Crowncarrier, I'm just putting what I know into practice. Don't take my word for anything since I am just a novice. The seventh one looks like a Champion.
-
Actually, the third picture, the red one of course. Sorry.

Hi Crowncarrier, That second marble looks like one that I just asked about and it turned out to be an akro slag, probably a "cardinal". Steph responded to that one. You might want to compare it to my "Akro?" post.

Help needed - One marble at a time - Marble #1
Marbleized replied to crowncarrier's topic in Marble I.D.'s
Looks like it has a little orange in it, too. Interesting! -
It does have a nice "cardinal" red to it. Thanks, Steph!

Hi Steph, I guess eventually, everybody has "rabbits" hiding here and there. LOL!
-
Would this be considered a "cardinal" slag? (I read about a description of one in Marble Alan's Enclyclopedia.)

Either way. I guess if maybe someone said you could just take one marble to heaven, what would it be? -
Got it! And I guess I need to also stop using the word "clear" and "transparent" interchangeably. π₯΄Thanks for the further clarification! π

Currently, for me, it seems to be like collecting is an investigative challenge. I'm looking through my marbles and sorting out the ones that I can id and the ones that I can't or am not sure about. For the ones that in question, I make my best guess from what I know, then I post what I think and ask for help. I'm happy if I can narrow a marble down to three companies and find out from you seasoned collectors that it belongs to one of the three. LOL. The best part of misidentifying a marble is that I learn a lot from all the info that you all give me. I think one day I will try to get my hands on a green brick or a really flaming marble--long term goal. When covid is manageable, I will find a marble show where I can at least admire all the super rare collectible ones. Thanks EVERYONE! (And thanks wvrons and Bruce for the responses!)

Just wondering . . . If you could have just one marble, what would it be? I was thinking that I'd like a mint condition green brick.
-
I'm not sure where all the marbles came from, but I didn't realize that I have so many. Nothing extremely valuable, just a lot. They just seemed to keep multiplying, like rabbits!!! I just like buying jars of the stuff. My husband said that I need to focus. LOL! So I was wondering, maybe I should start a coin jar, and save up for something awesome. I was thinking of maybe a green brick, or a heavily flamed marble. Any suggestions are welcome. Maybe I will post something for this. π

led virses fluorescent blacklight
Marbleized replied to bonniemarbles's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Aren't all blacklight flashlight LED now, unless you have an older one? Regular LED lights that you put in your lamps don't make marbles glow, so I'm thinking bonniemarble, that you are referring to LED blacklight flashlights as opposed to the old-fashioned incandescent blacklight? Or did you test out the UV light that they use to disinfect things? If you are referring to UV lights, that would be pretty interesting. I've never tried that. That would be interesting to see. -
I learned something new. I didn't know there was such a thing as a two color slag. Actually, I learned two things being that I didn't know that Jabo never made slags, although come to think of it, I've never seen one either. Thanks!

Thanks Vron, for the detailed explanation of the differences between a vitro and an akro. Would it be fair to say that one difference between an Akro patch and a Vitro helmet is that the clear red patch of the Akro, which looks like the face, goes over the white base, whereas the face of the Vitro is the base and always clear? I hope I'm making sense. I love the pics, and especially love the helmet in the back left on the first picture of helmets. And, I'm still trying to figure out how someone got the helmets into the openings of the metal tray without scratching them π¬. All good references for the future! Thanks also, Steph and "I'llhavethat1" for the feedback as well! π

I'm a newbie too. But, I'm going to try to identify a couple of mibs. There are two that look like Peltier patches. Often these patches have those pops or holes that are from the factory. But, the world of marble collecting is hardly absolute. If you need some information to get you started, it helps to look at other posts and the gallery on this site. There are other sides with pictures and info that will help--Marble Alan's Encyclopedia, JoeMarbles.com, Stephen Barr's You Tube videos (excellent source!!), The West Virginia Marble Club, to name a few. There are also sites specifically for Vitros, Vacors . . . It's mind boggling! But, I have to say, it does keep the brain working. Fun, fun, fun! And, of course, when you can't figure out what something is, everyone on this site are "marbleous"! Have a wonderful and meaningful Memorial Day!
-
My next guess would have been a vitro since it reminded me of the helmets when looking at the slightly curved seam from the right angle. That clear red also made me think that it might not be an Akro. The part that made me think Master was that slight bit of blending on one of the edges of the red. I'll lean towards the Vitro just for the heck of it. Thanks again! I hope you have a wonderful and meaningful Memorial Day!

Sounds good. It didn't have the obvious "diaper fold" that some Jabos have and there was some weak feathering of the white swirl. When I shined a light on it, the orange and red combination reminded me of a Carnelian. Also, just used a black light and there is a slight orange glow deep inside the marble. Not sure if any of these are valid reasons for thinking it is an Akro, but it was part of my uneducated guess as to what this could be. My fall back is always Jabo when the colors are deep and I'm not sure of what it is. Thanks!
