What makes you say Ravenswood? Don't get me wrong, I'm plum tickled with that ID. But more importantly (to me anyway) how do you know. After all these years I gotta get better at this stuff. Thanks Bruce

Another one from diggin' thru my jars. It fits the definition of a popeye patch but the colors aren't Akro-y, to me anyway. So I'm going with Vitro. Maybe a hair over 5/8ths, 21/32nds or something. Any thoughts? Thanks Bruce

Found this in one of my jars. It's a nice one. Clear base, opalescent white swirls throughout, and a surface stripe of transparent brown. About 9/16ths. My guess is European. Any ideas? Thanks Bruce

Ouch that one hurts. Baseball cards, comic books, marbles. I suppose a good predicter of what tomorrow's collectable will be is what moms are getting rid of today. Thanks Bruce

Cool Photo; Betcha wish you had that sweater. Thanks Bruce

Don't take it personally. If I did, every time I killed a thread with a comment, or started a thread that was only responded to by "crickets" I'd be suicidal by now. Thanks Bruce

Ric; It's much more appealing when it's called "silver" instead of grey. Thanks Bruce

How 'bout a "N". I tried it on it's side for "Z" but it's not so good. I think It's a Blue raven. Thanks Bruce

Goin' thru my jars again and these popped out: a little purple slag, I think it's a pelt. A grey rainbo, it's interesting because it's so drab. And a rainbo on a bubbly green translucent base. Thanks Bruce

Everett Grist's Big Book of Marbles 2nd Ed. page 12 The catalog page is on pg.13. Thanks Bruce

Actually the side shown in pic #3 opens. I had to go back and look. I have never opened it before. Thanks Bruce

I got the marble size from an old Grist book. Grist got it from an old catalog. Thanks Bruce

The base is very dark but transparent red. The Ally features I saw are internal but like what some of my Alleys show on the surface. Thanks Bruce

I always dismissed this one as Vacor. But closer scrutiny showed some Alley traits, but it's 3/4ths of an inch so I'm goin with Jabo. Any thoughts? Thanks Bruce

Is this box legit? The reason I ask is; the one panel says No. 5 and a #5 mib is an inch and 3/16ths diameter. That would no more fit in that box than fly to the moon. The only other explanation is Master used a numbering system for box sizes. If it turns out to be a fake that would call the other box into question (same source). Thanks Bruce

CAC crossed my mind too because of the top notch glass and the sharp margins. But I was definitely wrong about Ravenswood. Thanks Bruce

Sorry about the mis-statement. I have been after marbles for years, but it has only been recently that I began worrying about who made what so I am a rank beginner there. So, back to the OP mib; my original assessment may have been correct, It is a Ravenswood, or is it something else and size just is not the reason? Thanks Bruce

According to the Stephan Bahr/Ron S. video most Ravenswoods are less than 5/8ths. They occur larger but are much less common. I hope one of them will be along to clarify. Thanks Bruce

I have some of those. When I posted them a while back the response was "inconclusive" so I left them with my Rainbos. So they should go with MK? or are they in limbo still/again? They're nice whatever they are. Thanks Bruce

I watched Stephen Bahr's video with Ron S. on Ravenswood for the 3rd or 4th time and I thought I recognized this one. It's "wadded up" and has lotsa dips and dives, and coverage on the whole marble, but when I dug it out it doesn't quite work for a Ravenswood. It's right at 5/8ths, so too big. Not sure what to call it. I like it whatever it turns out to be. Any Ideas? Thanks Bruce

Ran across this one. Didn't think I would ever see it again. It has what looks like a rock in it, could be brick or even actual slag. Dunno, kinda gross, what do you think? thanks Bruce
