I know people have the misconception (as I did) that all pelt slags were feathered (gilled) as you say. but I have seen pics of some in boxes, supposedly, not backfilled that had no feathering ??

Ghost is the word !! I've heard there is provenance from 1926 that Peltier did produce white slags as one of their more common onyx, I know, I know you couldn't prove the "common' thing to me judging by the number of them I've seen , two (2) total since the late 80's. I believe Ron S. has a good line on this subject and am sure he will have something to add to the discussion.

Hmm !! I fully believe they did. I don't know what else to call this except maybe a pelt onyx (slag) ?? I'll add some more pix for ya as I find them.

Here's my guess on 5 gal. $437.50 for 5 gallons, I know I cheated a little, Oop !!

I used Pay Pal about 15 years ago for a while but prior to & since I use cashiers checks, a personal preference I guess ?? Although I have seen sellers that will accept nothing but Pay Pal. Most will accept money orders, cashiers checks or Pay Pal, some will even let you wire the money Western Union though I wouldn't personally recommend it, I've heard some nightmarish stories about identity theft etc. from this practice.

I had to research it to & believe me it wasn't overnight. Some speculation, "yes" wish we could all learn by osmosis but they say that's impossible, so here we are "In it for the long haul"

The Germans made the more colorful handmades between 1880 & 1910, Mostly for the blossoming English gameboard market during the mid to late Victorian era. One explanation for the smaller sizes & the two unfinished pontils (the rough unfinished pontils don't roll very well) unlike most of those made between 1850 & 1880 of which most had one faceted & one melted pigtail, they were trying to get them as round as they could as fast as they could.. This of course doesn't always apply as there are always exceptions to every rule. I use this to date most of my handmades, once you've seen thousands of them you can almost tell in most cases just by looking at the glass & the colors they used when it was made, a reason I like Joseph coats so much, the bright colors & rarity of any of them above 1". Also I have many with av. nothing like I used to have as they are getting almost impossible to attain anymore, and when I do find them the cost is outrageous. WW ll was 1939 - 1945 I don't think any handmades were being made then ??

I had to go to the Dr.'s office today for continuing foot pain. I was diagnosed with "Planters Fasciitis. The Dr. gave me a sheet with some exercises to alleviate the pain. I never thought I'd be using my marbles as a form of therapy but here's the # 2 exercise. I couldn't believe it when I read the instructions so I copied it to post & make sure I'm not hallucinating !!! If I get a reply I'll know it's true & I'll add it as one more reason for me to continue collecting mibs. The Dr. who created this exercise must be some kind of marketing "super genius" ?? Either that or works for a marble manufacture ??
