  1. one out of a myriad of pictures, the light, angle, everything had to be just right. Half the time it looked great until I reviewed it on my flat screen. I absolutely had to get a small tripod and a remote to eliminate all vibration and movement and still had a time. I wish they all came out this well. Thanks, Chad G.
  2. AHh !! Fresh fruit and backstraps, will my hunger to see new marbles ever be quenched ?? For some reason metalic mibs always get my curiosity going. How, when, and why is this type of metalic surface there. An accident in my mind, not a production marble but enough of them to be noticed in nearly every type of vintage or antique marble produced. At any rate "Thanks for the new pix Chuck" keep em rollin Chad G.
  3. Still here Ric just needed someone to wake me up. Wait !! I know ! I've already posted this on the big rainbows thread a while back but it's one of my favorite rainbows and one of the biggest. with the translucent orange and creamy white ribbons this marble reminds me of an orange creamsicle, I get hungry just looking at it, "delicious"
  4. Endless, that's what's great about rainbows !! This is gonna be one long post if we keep goin. I'll have a bunch to add here shortly.
  5. Let er rip "Great mibs " keep em rollin !!! Even if I can't own em having a folder full of great pics is the next best thing.
  6. I can see you also love the flame patterns, I wonder Why Peltier never got into the flame pattern as big as the other companies at the time did. Seems like CAC and Alley went all out with it and Peltier stayed more with the ribbon style?? Maybe it just took a while to catch on. In any case I love em all. I also like the foreign made Veiligglas, some of their flame patterns are absolutely unbelievable and they were only around for a few years !! Any way another great marble, "Thanks Ric, keep em rollin "
  7. I wish I lived a little closer to all the action, and the history, imagine a bunch of people coming into the factory you made toy marbles at with sledge hammers. ( It's like a marble prohibition film ) I believe if I was Lawrence Alley I to would have changed employers also. A fascinating and very well made video Stephen, I know I'll have to watch it several times to get it all straight, and then there's the in hand aspect. As you know the marbles 90% of the time look much different in hand than they do on film, I noticed all the lookalikes were side by side so you didn't have to roll it around in your hand for a positive I.D. . I'll have to dispense with that aspect and just do the best I can with the marbles I have, and I did recognize quite a few without any realization of what they where. "Thank you ever so much" to all involved for sharing your knowledge, and thank you " Stephen" for taking the time to make it available to us all. " Fantastic Job All " Chad G.
  8. I like those older wooden ones like yours. Had several opportunities to buy a cheaper and newer Wolverine Co. tin and plastic game like that but always damaged or cracked. Not made to last like the ones you and I have. I'll just be patient and one will run into me sooner or later. " Great game Ric" made to last !! Thanks for sharing. Simple is good !!
  9. Well whadya know I finally got a few right. I don't have to apologize for a wrong guess this time. My short term memory must not be as decayed as I thought it was "I think" Ron is right Chuck S. is doing a killer job w/ the pics and descriptions, I was and am impressed, and hungry !!
  10. Glad you made it out in "one piece" Bill, good thing you had the paper bag handy, and the popcorn to leave that false trail.
  11. That's scarier than that one you posted on Halloween Bill, "I'm terrified" 😲
  12. @%**&^%^&)*PIUY%$%*JUY#!$%^&* !!! I give up !! Killer example
  13. Man that cup musta been rippin when it spit that one out Ric
  14. Only one I have like it. I sold all my 4 and 5 color corks, not a real big Akro collector but I like certain ones and end up hanging on to them, they kind of find their way into your collection if you know what I mean. "Thanks Jess" back at ya. Chad G.
  15. I can't get over it !! I hunt deer (it's all deer antler) I pick mushrooms (the feet are carved into morel mushrooms) and on top a marbles stand. I have made some True Friends in this hobby. It's not really about marbles but the sharing and Lifelong Friends you make along the way. Like you and I have become good friends and will probably never meet, and I'll say it again, brought together across half the earth by a small piece of glass. Fantastic !! Thanks again for the thumbs up Roby. Chad
  16. Not sure on the I.D.'s but they sure look good for dug mibs Bonnie. I think the green clear base w/ whitish swirls is the cucumber and just below it the black base w/ purple swirls was named by Stephen B., A beauty berry. I'm not positive, just going by the pics Chuck posted and Stephens video. I believe almost the entire first batch you have are named mibs. Best wait for Ron or Chuck to chime in, I just had to throw my 2 cents in. " GOOD FUN " Chad G.
  17. The middle one is a 3 color special all opaque and the other left of center on the bottom is a blue egg yolk ace cork, you can barely see the ace base glass tracing under the yellow,. There's an egg yolk ace swirl second to the right of it. If I turned it on it's side you would recognize it immediately. " Thanks for the likes Jess " A little confetti for you also on this "Akro Friday" Well it looks kinda like confetti !!
  18. "Absolutely wonderful, a friendship I treasure" the stand is just a little unexpected bonus. I have made more good friends in this hobby than almost anywhere. Glad you like it Ric, "Thanks" Chad G.
  19. A few for you !! Happy "Akro Friday" and a couple Alley for good measure.
  20. Earlier this month I came home to a large USPS box on my porch. I knew I had something coming from a friend but had no idea. I looked at the name on the box Yes from him. I came inside and carefully opened it with my razor knife. Whoa !! I have never seen anything like it, a marble stand, and not just any stand. This one incorporated everything We both have in common. Hunting, mushroom picking and marbles. It was a handmade marble stand. An all in one for me, I enjoy hunting, it's made of deer antler. I enjoy mushroom picking the feet are carved into morel mushrooms, and a marble stand on top of that. I couldn't imagine a better gift. I am both lucky and grateful for my marble Brothers and Sisters. How such a small thing could bring so many people together to share and learn from one another. Some of the best friends I have, or ever will have I met through this hobby. Honesty and transparency are two things I've tried to practice throughout my life, the key's to having a "True Friend". All of this stemming from a small insignificant piece of glass. "Thank you my marble Friend" Chad G.
  21. This is a little better, "sorry again for the grainy pic" yes the ghost core is from marvering, but the threads riding alongside the ghost core have color. The thinner lines have a yellow tint while the thicker ribbon has a white color, as if they adopted the colors from the outside ribbons. Never the less an uncommon core. Chad G.
  22. Metallic always makes for a beautiful mib, especially when it follows the flow of the glass so well like the one you have posted, Thanks Ric for sharing a very nice mib.
  23. Thanks Roby, I though it to be a regular Indian until I got home and put the light to it, a pleasant surprise. Better than getting home to the usual pitting or undetected fleas I missed because I didn't bring my glasses or loupe.
