I jumped on these thinking that the patch was a Peewee and the rest were 11/16”. No size was given and I have seen plenty of these—the price was right after I gave an offer. I am not a “big money” buyer but for just over six dollars apiece, including shipping—I went for it. Akro corks are out of my bidding life on E-bay and that is why I am collecting Vacor’s now—they really take some sorting for me to be able to afford them as well. I jumped on this auction and was very surprised when they arrived. The patch is 13/16”(that is a very big Patch imho) and the biggest Corkscrew is 1”. They may be dug marbles but they are as close to mint as I require. I would have flipped over these 30 years ago at this price! I know right where they are going---In a box. The one inch marble?—on a pedestal, they are not too common-for me at least. The patches commonly appeared with corks of the same colors in boxes, no problem there. They are still out there---Just keep searching and be patient. (Luck counts to this day—lol) I still get lucky!—once in awhile. For a guy in a small town in Wisconsin—this is just a killer find—just killer. This kind of find keeps me going—searching!! Marble—On!!

I did some research on this one before I purchased it. The Box is right, the marbles are right, the box—well, I did find at least one of them as Jobber boxes in my research. The inserts have a ten digit phone number on them—What?? Please sellers out there—get it right and fool me well—or not at all. This one—although I do like it—will always give me a bad taste in my mouth. The marbles at today’s prices paid off as an investment. I collect and do not invest. The inserts will stay in this one for future collectors to think about. Maybe the inserts were missing?—I doubt it. Live and learn—the books are not always right. Marble—On!!

I Never could afford one and never got lucky—LOL---yet I remember Popeye boxes that were claimed to be filled with Sparklers as original –“Oxbloods”as well—the fancy ones. I will say this; I got the inspiration for this post from a seller on E-bay. I do not know him/her and this is not an attempt to draw attention to it. I do not ever try to sell or advocate buying from any one. It is a very nice pouch though—lol. I am just looking for any info from the historical minds that this board has to offer. Were “Popeye boxes” indeed filled with “Sparklers” or “Oxbloods”—Fact or Fiction? I appreciate all opinions and relish them as a collector. Thanks—and--- Marble—On!!

Tips for starting a collection?

I went toe to toe with an Antiques Roadshow dude back many years ago over a nice big "Antique German" with some damage. They get on that show as appraisers for a reason--killer negotiators. I knew more than he did about marbles for sure---- I backed away and learned a bunch--he never flinched--not once. I will bet to this day that he dropped the price after we met. ( I still flinch--just not as much--lol). Live and learn--- Marble--On!! -
Size--it always matters-- Marble--On!!

Nice marble! If you want an ID --repost it--if not--Well---- I agree with you. The blue AV gives this one away. Some of the contract runs had patches involved--this one is "just killer"! Thanks for sharing it!! Marble--On!!

Here are some Ric--- fourth row in from the right. These show up in a variety of ways. White can be dominant—or not. There is always a shade of purple involved. They are not a real good corkscrew cork-wise, more swirly than most. The two in the OP are very nice ones imho. Marble—On!!

What Ric, Kimbernugs and Melissa said X2. There was a drop in coloration when the Master Marble Company became the Master Glass Company. It was all a matter of keeping up with the new import rules regarding the Japenese and other Asian countries after WW2. American glass companies could hardley keep up with the changes and prices. I have always believed that yours are pre-war and the brushed patches are after-war. Quite a drop in eye appeal imho. Great marbles! Marble--On!!

A "Rainbo" for sure--not regular at all--special--just not named. Any pelt-head out there would love to own it--I would for sure and I am just a mild pelt-head. Corkhead am I😁. Marble--On!!
