Thoughts On This Poly Bag....
Al Oregon replied to MarbleDawg86's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
It is not rare. It does show up on eBay once in a while. Valuewise, I'd say in the $10+ range but with Alley marbles, someone may buy higher for the marbles (I hate to open original bags but some people do). There are fake bags of the Mr. Peanut style similar to this that you have to be aware of. The fakes usually have the wording "Play the square..." although there are some real ones with that wording. The marbles make a difference so learning about them helps. -

Champion Furnace Swirls -- What's The Story?
Al Oregon replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Here is a post from 2002 by Ron Shepherd's ex, who was also very involved with marbles and the boards back then: -------- Posted by Paula Shepherd on Alan's Board - June 23, 2003 (from WVMCC website): On November 22, 2002, I had a phone conversation with Dave McCullough (former manager at Champion Agate and currently Vice-President of JABO-Vitro) According to McCullough, Champion furnace marbles were made in the mid-1990's. He said that Roger Jones, who was a very knowledgeable glassman used Wizmach glass to wash out the tanks when changing runs. Located in Paden City, West Virginia, Wizmack makes plate and cathedral glass. This plate glass was not compatible with the glass in the tanks at Champion and that is why it was used to wash out the tanks - this incompatibility is also why nearly all of the furnace marbles have internal fractures. McCullough told me that, according to Jones, Wizmack glass was run once or twice a month in the mid-1990's and that there would have been 5 or 6 buckets full of marbles each time - making the total number of furnace marbles well over 6,000. He also said that Jones told him that the yellow glass cleaned out the tanks best. This most likely explains why we see more yellow furnace marbles than other colors. (Note; According to Dave McCullough, Mr. Jones passed away in 1996 or 1997) Paula ---------------------- -

Too Cold For The Indy Show, Here Is Some Pics
Al Oregon replied to greg11's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
Great pics - especially of the fish (& Mia) -
Thanks, I didn't see a list on the left side but it may be the "hidden" features. I'll check it out. Also, I'll figure out how to change Skydrive settings.

Thanks for the thread, Steph. Mine is not a glitch but apparently a learning problem. I had to buy new computer with Windows 8.1. Pretty much different from previous Windows. I'm using IE for browser. The problem that I have is when I go to add a picture - uploaded from my computer. When I click on "Browse". my computer goes to Skydrive (which is a Windows picture feature that I have not learned to use yet). It does not give me any option to actually browse or get to my file folder with the marble pictures on it. Hopefully someone here is using Windows 8.1 and can tell me how to get "browse" to go somewhere other than to the Skydrive page.

Neat box, Hansel. Only other one that I have a picture of was one that Dani & Ernie posted back in 2003.

Randy Gossett passed away last Thursday per a post by Edna on Facebook. Randy was a driving force with Vitros several years ago and, in my opinion, was one person that helped the Vitros become more popular. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.

It's good that the doctors are talking. A lot of people don't make sure they do. Best wishes on the procedures.

Wow, another piece of history saved!

And, some more - note that Paas, Paulanne, Sun Brand, Uncle Jack's and Union have many different count bags.

While We Are On The Morphy Kick ... Hess's Marble Set?
Al Oregon replied to Steph's topic in General Marble & Glass Chat
That's like getting a Macy's box or other department store box and filling it with Jabos or MK's or Vacor and saying "Macy's Marble Box" - what a load of crap! I hope someone is letting Brian or whomever still works for Morphy's know about the hits they are taking on their reputation on the marble boards. It'd be nice for one of them to respond. -

When I click on the marble(s) pic, it just goes to the regular 'larger' thumbnail pic that pops up on this site.
