the rarity of nice nines and tails on Akro handgathered slags Peltier handgathered slags and many CAC handgathered marbles(American Agates Especially) leads me to believe Arnold did not always teach a swirling method of gathering. I believe he preferred a dip method. Although at 10,000 marbles a day for an experienced team of 2 it appears the swirling method used at MFC and other places worked very well for speed.

When it comes to why 50 for an Alley and 5 for a Jabo I say it is because the Jabos were made as collectibles for collectors. Exactly the same reason the mint Morgan can be 5000 and the Franklin Mint coin 50. no difference at all IMO. As for the Alley and CAC difference I believe it is Eye appeal and rarity more so than a name. I have looked through 10s of thouasands of marble in collections out here in CA and it is extremely rare to find even a common CAC swirl. Much less common than even Pelt NLRs. As for Alley Agates thousands upon thousands. I have to disagree it is a just a name thing. I went through thousands and thousands of Bert Cohens machine made marbles after he passed. I do not remember even finding one half way decent CAC, But I found thousands of new run Jabos and Alley Agates, just sayin

There were also many solitaire boards made that used 1/2" or smaller marbles. My guess would be most were for game pieces.

When I skim through ebay marble auctions I automatically stop at any with bids. this is the main reason I snipe No sense giving away a good auction. I was even worse when bidders IDs were used,

I have had a large group of Milky Oxbloods from the dirt at Akro. (over 50) Thousands were dug there. I have also seen several Akro bags with Milkies in them, Some at the last Vegas show. I do not see them easily confused with Alley Agates that have Oxblood (and there are many)

Sorry I completely disagree with the assumption these are Vacor. I have a box like that. I do not believe they are Vacor. Not marked Vacor and no proof. Early Vacors were clay, and their glass marbles for many years were very crude and nothing like early Allies etc.. From a person at Vacor. They said the earliest glass marbles were sort of a very crude cateye type? I had an email exchange that I now can not find but someone else also got very similar information about 15-20 years ago. This is just my opinion from the research I did years ago. I have been wrong before

The snipe bid did not beat you. He had a higher bid. I have used a sniping program from the time I heard about them.. It is no different, The high bid wins. I can not count on both hands the amount of times I have lost to a bid the same as mine because they were first or had a slightly higher bid(below the next increment). Now that will get you cussing for a minute. Like this

First thing that screams not CAC are all the striations in the Opaque glass. Not at all what you would expect to see in CAC glass
