  1. I think making assumptions from pictures posted on ebay ads can often be very very wrong. And that one short kind message to a seller is enough. I also think someone should have many many years collecting before contacting sellers even if it is really a blatant mistake. I also think putting up posts hoping to get some kind of support for someones actions is not necessary.
  2. the ground pontil oxbloods were found in a shipwreck dated between 1870 and 1880. They are also found pictured on advertizing from that era. They may have made some earlier but they were still making them then. I believe the 1820 date is about 30-40 years too early
  3. Hey Kevin, Glad to see you on board!
  4. Bottom right is actually 3 colors and Opaque
  5. The base even has a drawer(missing knobs) which will be perfect for the game marble boxes. It cost less than the last nice striped transparent I bought from Dani! The white strips are cardboard someone has inserted. They fit on top of a row of dowels. I will try and find some velvet or felt to replace the cardboard strips.
  6. Been searching for years for the perfect display case. Lucked out big time today when I found this in a local Antique store. Each drawer even has a glass front with area behind the glass to put marbles! Can't wait to get to cleaning and fixing it up!!!
  7. The question remains if there really was someone willing to shell out that kind of money for a beat to heck fish poop scoop. I want to hope not but that would then mean shill bidding, and we all know that never happens on ebay (LOL)
  8. Would you try a flash pic with the marble on a cloth background. Grey works the best.
  9. Please take the name and use it for Peltiers. I can not stand it when used for CACs. Thank goodness only a few sellers continue to give it any credibility.
  10. I believe all in the box are Alley and have been IDed as such by a couple very long time Alley collecters. I have to get my Alley ID assumptions verified as the W.V. swirls can be so tricky.
  11. Got some new ride alongs for the trip to Ohio. The box just gets sicker the closer we get!!!
  12. many sulphides have been cased in a transparent layer of colored glass and later passed off as colored Sulphides.
  13. that marble is a very large multi-colored swirl , no longer mine
  14. I took some flack for smashing a variety of crockeries and benningtons. Guess maybe I should do some agateware and American toy types.
  15. Boy was I off, The tins go in the 50-100 dollar range.
  16. the glass of the balls is worthless. We give them value as collectors. A ball of gold is not worthless you can smash it flatten it, heck grind it into dust it still has worth. Not a glass marble .I would send them to you Paul, but the case they are in is worth $32,000.00 (LOL)
  17. I would say they are very rare. And Jereon you are entitled to your opinion, and there are others sick and tired of me. Thank goodness I know I can't please everyone. And maybe someone will buy that excuse but you won't get a penny from me(LOL) Why wouldn't you start a new thread asking what rare means in machine mades? No need to answer I already have gone too far with this, sorry folks.
  18. I guess we could just post pictures of marbles an say how pretty they are. Come on Scott, really???
  19. Vallejo on the right and Mare Island on the left separated by the Napa River . Carquinez straight under the bridge disappearing to the left behind the hill. I am driving on the Cummings Skyway
  20. another of the views showing where I drove from.
  21. Only got up to 70degrees later in the day. Most of my commute is rural so I get some outstanding scenery on the drive. Only had the cell phone but I think it worked fairly well.
