William
It's obvious that some of us, at one point during our another, either collected or acquired a cool bottle or two or some other sort of interesting or unique glass vessel. I thought it would be fun too see who has what, how they got it, and if it has a story behind it. I'll kick it off with a 1930's Marble "pop" bottle that I picked up at an antique mall a while back, complete with its own little story 😊

I used to have a large collection like that myself, most of which I gradually sold back when I was doing the Ebay thing 15-20 years ago. I recall one that I was very fond of, a purple blob top beer bottle I sold to a man in Louisiana for around $100. It was fun collecting them though!

I have a "Maui Soda Works" bottle with a Hutchinson spring stopper. When a friend gave it to me, I had no idea what that was. I thought his dad put a piece of wire in it for some other purpose. I actually tried to dig it out so that I could toss it. Luckily, things back then were quality made so I was unsuccessful. When I looked up info on my Codd bottle I discovered that this was a stopper. Who would have known. Also, back then, repurposing was a way of life. So I added in a photo of a cup made from a soda bottle that his dad or uncle created.

wvrons
I have a few hundred vintage soda pop bottles on a couple garage walls. I am out of room, even for six pack cartons and full bottles now. Every little town had their own brand along with the big brands. I have got another dozen of different six packs full bottles since this picture.

I'm sure there isn't too many left at all, but there is a town, population less than 1,000, called Spring Grove,MN. ; only 7 miles down the road from me. That still has it's own fully operational bottling works. And they still use the original recipe for their soda pop! You can find it online if your interested in checking it out. They actually sell their product across many states now. I do believe you can purchase online also. Good assortment of flavors too! By the way, love the purple "pop" bottle! Marbleized
Looks yummy! Do you think the bottle was better than the taste of its contents? 🤔 I'm guessing it hit the spot.

akroorka
My dad found this bottle while working as a Lineman with the local Utilities. They were digging a hole to set a power pole and up it came in the auger tailings along with a bunch of other smaller bottles, the bigger ones got crushed. He knew that my wife and I were into old stuff so he picked them all up and gave them to us. Thirty years later, my wife found the “Trade Card” at a local shop. Pretty cool how things can come back together.

PittsburghMarbles
Rubifoam was one of the first “tooth pastes”. They came in tiny sample sizes and the size you have.

Steph
Love the bottles. The urine bottle is hilarious but very cool. My Codd bottle is modern. I got it for a small price just to have one, then did some research and learned it's not vintage but that's okay. I can't remember if it's modern because it's from another country that continued the Codd bottle tradition longer than most. Or if it was made more as a curiosity. I just wanted one and now I have it. 1

Every marble collector should have one, at least for a conversation piece, IMO.😉👍😁 Where we are they sell that Japanese soda called "Ramune" that still uses Codd bottles. Everyone has a blast popping open the pop and watching the marble fall. So cool!
