Yikes,  Odd how he says he's grading by Block's standards and then seems to ignore them. The photos have the seller's fingerprints in focus but not the mib, but there are enough "flea bites" visible to show that it is nowhere near "near mint". He says it measures .75 when his own calipers show a hair over .53. The first sentence in the description acts as the disclaimer to cover a multitude of sins. Because of the color my first thought was Vacor anyway, but I am usually wrong on IDs. Thanks

Bruce

Pointing out misidentified or wrongly graded marbles on Ebay would be a full time job - probably for several people. And I don't think I have ever seen a more valuable marble identified as a less valuable one - like a CAC identified as a Champion. I do think most misidentification is not nefarious though, people who intentionally misidentify marbles are few, at least I hope that's the case.

Anyway, the mib in question is 100% Champion NoF.

If i look at the pictures

My first guess was Vacor also   because of the grey ish base and how the swirls en at one side

. . . why do you guys see champion as opposed to anything else.

It's mostly just experience - I've seen a lot of them. Colors, pattern, base glass and size are all clues. They made another that is often mistaken for a K&M. Here's a good pic of both from the WVMCC site.

Thanks Ric. I have seen and correctly ID’d the other color combos before, just not the K&M or black/red examples. Scary stuff.

But your alarms are working fine and that's the all-important first step!

That's a nice one. I've seen some patterns that  can look sorta close to Pelts, and can understand why some  people might confuse them. The differences are much more obvious if you've been collecting for a while though.

Vernier/Caliper styles can sometimes be hard to decipher but pretty sure that's reading .753 of an inch.

I agree Champion New Old Fashioned, I had one kicking around here years ago.

100%  Champion New Ole Fashion.

Anyone know the difference with New Ole Fashion Marbles and Old Fashioned Marbles ?    They are names used by two different companies, not collector names.

New Ole Fashion are the Champions from the late 1980s. Old Fashioned Marbles are old mesh bags with Ravenswood marbles and usually one Paul Bunyan, I think.
