The meaning of "vintage"

Recommended Posts

When I started collecting marbles, "vintage" meant "earlier than 1970".

It's now 20 years later.  But something made in the 1970's is still considered modern.  Right?

Just pondering when the definitions will get updated ....

I think the definition of "antique" is pretty well defined but the definition of "vintage", especially the upper (newer) limit, is where the problem lies.

I would disagree that anything made sometime between yesterday and 99 years ago is vintage. Although, I'd be okay calling something made between 25 and 99 years ago vintage, but that's just me, and therein lies the problem IMO.
