Thoughts on selling my modest collection

Steph

Recommended Posts

I will be slowly downsizing my collection.   I hope to end with a very select group of treasures.

Some marbles I will give away.  My backyard neighbor girl has recently shown an interest, for example.  It would be awesome to get her started with a few classics.

Some I will send over to the wilds of eBay.  Some I might send over to the even wilder wilds of Facebook.

Some I would only want to part with to trustworthy buyers.  For example, a Brian Graham oxblood made on a Miller machine.  I would want that to go to someone who I know would appreciate it for what it is and not try to turn it into anything it isn't, if you know what I mean.

That's what I was looking for today.  I'm here on the forum to find a thread of his where my marble may have been pictured, because I wanted to find the actual marble today and I couldn't.  Grrrr.    I should be able to lay my hands on it just like that.  I know I had it in my hands recently.  And then I put it somewhere "safe".  I am pretty sure that knowing myself I realized the "safe" place should also be readily visible.  Yet, I can't see it.  Grrrrrrrrr.

P.s., I am pretty sure I found the thread but alas the images are gone.

I'll find the marble "soon".

I have a few of his including oxbloods.

If you find it give me a hollar, I will be at the very least helpful with an ID.

Brian made his own recipe for oxblood--just killer marbles:wub:!!

Funny how I just found mine in a minute:fighting-163:.

Plain and Simple

Thank You again for your contributions to the hobby, too this forum, and to my education on anything glass over the past almost 4 years.

I'm just happy that you'll "pop in" once in a while...always look forward to seeing you!

Thank you, William. You are special, too! 💕

Art, it's definitely Brian's.   Still in the mailer.    I just wanted to be able to point to it in Brian's original thread announcing that particular run.  🙂

Well that was before my time here--this might help in your search.
I discovered Brian on my own after I purchased some "guineas' a few years back that I knew were false (not CAC).
I did the research (Fun --great fun) and found out what I needed to know.
Maybe @akronmarbles can help you with your search.

The marbles are posted below.

Steph, you could drop a few of your common marbles in a little cardboard box and sign the top and offer a limited number of them here, assuming you have commons left.

I can't be the only MC old timer who would pay to cherish a little memento to help us remember the Marble Queen and her contributions to the hobby.

Edit: Al would prefer you make a fantasy bag of course. 😃

Sweet and funny.

I just want to find a good home for some of the harder to categorize marbles.  ( :

I thought of another example -- a Chris Juedemann "second", which if I were to sell it I would want to sell it in a way which was respectful of how it came into my possession.

That led me to google to see what Chris was doing now, only to learn he died in 2023.

Trying to figure out what to do with my marbles is bound to be a very emotional experience.

I appreciate your dedication and hard work to this site and your great contributions to educating the rest of us!  Parting with any part of a collection is hard, especially when you have so many memories attached to the acquisitions.  Thank you for all you have done to advance this hobby and “addiction!”

Keep us posted Steph--I do Ebay but not the Facebook thing--go where the money is for sure.

Just post them here--
