  1. Sorry to hear this. Prayers for his family.
  2. That marble looks modern to me. I know some torch workers who have made peppermints and yes, one that has put mica in. The torch workers I know make prettier marbles than that one, but it could be an American artist or European who is just getting started.
  3. Thanks triker. I have green and horsehair oxblood and I have the white base with blue ribbons and the metalic ribbons, but haven't seen red and green or the beigey color around the red. I haven't seen all the Alley's either, but they are pretty marbles and I' ve never known Ray to misidentify.
  4. The black spots look like the metal we see in the Alley's with blue on white.
  5. It's that beige color surrounding the red that is confusing to me.
  6. Steph, I've never known Ray to get it wrong, but those don't look like any Alley's i've seen. Wish Ron would comment on these. Maybe that's why eddiemex wants to sell them. Do you see JABO?
  7. Steph, I just found this tonight. I have 2 whities, the 5/8th size with a ivory white equatorial band. I also have lavender whities. i think 7 of them. I can take pics, but can't edit until I learn the new program, but will post pics when I can.
  8. There are a lot of the Texas club members that will spend time with you identifying your marbles. Some of us will even put them in bags and label them for you.
  9. Almost the entire first floor was filled with marble sellers. Today at the show, where were they? It looked to me like 2/3 or maybe 3/4 of them left before the show. How does a club pay for the showroom if that many people do not rent tables?
  10. Why would you want to sell some pretty marbles you just got?
  11. 1stopmibshop is Ray Tetrick, a very reputable dealer. I would have paid that much or more if I'd seen it.
  12. I can't help thinking that consulting is not new to our time period. He could have worked at one place (Peltier or Christensen) and consulted for the other. He could have continued to receive pay checks for consulting while working for the other. I know people who do this now. I haven't finished the book. I'm reading slowly because my son accuses me of "ripping through books". I don't think we have to dismiss the book because we can't prove it's correct. For the doubters of the veracity of the book, instead of criticizing loudly and telling people not to buy, be proactive. Do some research yourself and prove him wrong or right.
  13. http://www.texasmarblecollectors.com/Home_Page.php This is a link to the Texas Marble Collector's Club website. Click on the link to find out more about our show, like making hotel reservations. Many of us arrive on Wednesday and we all eat dinner together each night. It's a chance to meet people with a common interest and spend time with them. The hotel has reasonably priced food and last year, they gave us a private dining room for our dinner. It was so nice, we decided to eat in each night. Some of the nicest people I've ever met are marble collectors. If you are not selling, all you have to say is no. I bring marbles to the show that I am not selling. A lot of us do that. It's an opportunity to learn if you can see things you haven't found. Our special event for the October show is a visit to Kittrell/Riffkind Art Glass. They will have a marble maker for us to watch and also displays of contemporary marbles they handle from collectors around the U.S. In April we have our show at Round Rock near Austin. That hotel allows us to make marbles in an area behind the showroom. It's a fun time. We will also have 3 former U.S, Marbles champions at that show and they will teach us to play marble games. Please visit our web site to learn more and you can email me from there if you have more questions. Edna
  14. Bottom 3 rows are Vitro Agate - not swirls but Tri-lite patches
  15. JABO MAMIE'S RUN - Eaton Patriots, named by David McCullough in memory of Weldon Eaton
  16. Well Bill, if you insist on having more than one birthday a year, you age really fast. I think I'm going to start celebrating every other year. Have a great birthday.
  17. This is one of Tom's lutz marbles. He gave it to me at the WVMCC show in May 2011. Tom Jinks does not do computer so he won't be posting any. Others feel free to post theirs.
  18. Joseph got to meet Tom Jinks the year we took him to DC and David mc. was running industrials. Tom was there because he had just finished a run with another group that included Russ Casmar. This is the lid of Joseph's box of Jinks marbles.
  19. I made of box of the Jinks run for Joseph.
  20. Tom Jinks did a run all by himself in 2008. I believe it was the first time this beautiful blue base glass was used in the experimentals.
