  1. First, I'd call it a really dandy marble. - I'd love to see it backlit. What size is it? What I'd most like to call it is . . . mine. 🙂 I think it's a Ravenswood Solar Flare but it might be an Alley Exotic Coral. It's a great marble, either way.
  2. I don't think either is a Bronze Zebra. The primary ribbons and AV on those are pretty distinctive.
  3. When you do, please buy one that will read in fractional inches - decimals are a downer for marbles IMO.

I need to correct myself. I do not think this is any kind of Tiger Eye - just a big Vitro Patch and Ribbon. It seems to have a patch and ribbon style like a Type I Tiger Eye but they have white veneered on clear transparent base glass.

    Vitro?

    Art's got it, IMO.

    Marble King?

I think newer MK too - they have two patches. The older patch & ribbon style have one patch and two ribbons. Having said that, both can get a little crazy sometimes with patches that look more like ribbons and ribbons that look more like patches.

It's a big ol' Vitro Tiger Eye Type IV, as far as I can tell. The patch and ribbons can get pretty wild in the bigger sizes.
  8. This is a tough one because of the patch shape and the cutoffs, I want to say Akro but I think there is a good chance it's just an odd Peltier because they made a lot of black AV patches like this and I have not seen many, if any, Akros that are similar.
  9. Oh yeah, that's a good marble - nice find! It's great when you find nice marbles you didn't know you had. 🙂
  10. Happy Holidays to all! from Indiana
  11. And you're still perfectly normal around here - it's part of the beauty of this place!
  12. We're pretty liberal with the hints around here too . . . Can you imagine walking into the five-and-dime and seeing a shelf full of these? Kids probably gobbled them up!
  13. Well, admitting you have a problem is the first step . . . I did that about twenty years ago and I worked on step two for so long I don't even remember what it is. And honestly, I don't really care. lol
  14. Nice thing about the marble board . . . cheating is allowed, in fact, it's almost expected! 🙂
  15. Great group, Dink. Thanks for posting them!
  16. I wonder if those are newer - you usually don't find such distinct 4-color ones that are older, unless they're hybrids or blended, and if I recall correctly, I have seen some similar foreign marbles. And now it's time for a quiz . . . what do you call that one with purple and red ribbons in the group of three (background of the last two pics)?
  17. Just be careful, Melissa, the marble bug can bite pretty hard and it's nearly impossible to recover completely from the affliction. I don't usually tell people how many marbles I have - it's embarrassing!
  18. Wow, that's a sweet marble! An Irish Bumble Scout! Of course, I just made that up. 🙂
  19. Great mibs - nice purple colors, and I really like the blue popping out in the last one - very nice!
  20. AV on Akros isn't real common but there are quite a few out there - especially patches. I think about the only other company yours might be would be Peltier, which is why I really need to see both seams and the shape of the patch clearly to make a more definitive call.
  21. One of the challenges with sorting Champions is that there just aren't a lot of good original bags from the early "mesh bag" years for sure examples, and a lot of those marbles are pretty nondescript transparent swirls. When it comes to their later wire-pulls and NOFs, it gets a little easier. But there are no doubt a lot of Champions out there since they cranked them out for about 50 years - my bet is only Alley made more WV Swirls than Champ did.
