No problem, thank you for reminding me how to spell "Chaulky"!

God's honest truth, Bruce - I had my Gramp's catcher's mitt, signed by the Babe - Mom sold it at a garage sale! Do you know me? Yeah, I would love that sweater!

Look above the pic - lol Calling @wvrons and @mibcapper - they've got all the good ones!

Thanks for the consolation, Bruce - even the Babe struck out once in a while! The guy I called Grandpa is on the right (Al DeVormer).

A pretty good approximation - I like it! Nice, a little extra in the base glass.

I agree, a little less patch and a little more 'burst!

Oh wow! That really is amazing. I can only imagine the technique involved in forming the letters. Unbelievable talent on display here!

These are often referred to as Birds in Fire Tree marbles. They are thought to date to the 1930s. You can find the same motif in aquarium pieces or paperweights from the period. You can find a little info about them in this newsletter from the Marble Collectors Society of America. Has anyone ever seen a pontil on one of these marbles? I am pretty sure mine has been polished and I wonder if examples of these "marbles" were actually produced or if they were really ground from other objects. What do you think? Does anyone have other examples to share?

This is one of the most attractive Heatons I have seen!

Looks like a Blue Raven to me! Have you given up looking for a "B"? That has to be even harder than finding an "R"! Unless of course, you cheat (see below). lol That's a cool marble, Alan. Who made it, and did they do the whole alphabet?
