I'm pretty sure you're right - Vitro. Game marbles, I think.
  2. JABO FoxFire II, April 17, 2010.
  3. Sammy's Mountain Marbles Second Test Run, 07-25-2012.
  4. Vacor was my first thought, even though it sure does have a Peltier look to it.
  5. A 3/4" Pete McMillan Special from the first run of contract marbles at JABO, January 1999.
  6. A few JABO contract marbles from Ed Parsons (RIP) Furnace Wash, June 1, 2010.
  7. Since Melissa recently started a DAS and Jabo thread, I thought we should show Sammy some love too! Sammy's Mountain Marbles First Test Run, 07-04-2012. These are from Mr. Hogue's first run of Sammy's Mountain Marbles.
  8. It's a looker, for sure, and I have not seen too many others like it.

I'm not sure this is an American marble. If it is (and that's a big IF), I'd probably be thinking about an odd Vitro game marble.
  10. It looks more like an Akro (Moss Agate) to me. The bit of "yellow" might make it slightly more interesting to some. I would want to know the size it and if there is any AV in the green before I considered making an offer on it. Shipping costs would be important too, since some marbles are barely worth that.
  11. Well, that's different, for sure. I've not seen a paperweight like it before. I wonder if there is any significance to the "arrowhead" backdrop that the cross is on?
  12. It looks like an Akro Corkscrew with a little clear in it.
  13. West Virginia Marble Collector's Club run (April 2011) The marbles around the base are 3/4". The 2" sphere and stand were made by Andy Davis using glass from the run. I no longer own it.
  14. Welcome to the Marble Connection - what a great bunch of Veiligglas! I look forward to seeing more of your collection.
  15. Asian seems right to me too - a bit of an Imperial look to it.
  16. Left and center look Vitro to me. Colors on the right one have me thinking a deformed newer MK.

The left one looks mostly foreign to me, maybe an outside chance of Master. The right one looks like a way overstuffed Peltier Banana, IMO - very cool.
  18. @treetiger Turkey heads are usually specifically associated with CAC marbles, even though you may see similar shapes on other maker's marbles. I usually refer to the more generalized shapes simply as "bird heads". Here's a fairly typical rendition of an Alley bird head . . . but I've seen these on other maker's marbles too. They are random swirls after all. πŸ™‚
  19. I guess if you're talking "true black" it's probably more limited - Akro, CAC, Alley, Pelt - I may have missed another, can't remember. πŸ™‚ True black was a pre-cullet marbles kinda thing - formula glass, as far as I recall.
  20. I'm having a hard time thinking of a company that didn't make black and white marbles.
  21. Nice gifts - happy belated birthday too! πŸ™‚
  22. I assumed it was pelt, since RAR's got lots of dug Pelt stuff.
