  1. I keep these with my "Potentially Alley Oxblood"
  2. Here's what I did with some of mine...made a planter for some bamboo shoots
  3. Real old pic but you get the idea. Almost looks like a metallic nailpolish. Might still have this around somewhere
  4. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but possibility of CAC on the slag? Hard to tell
  5. From right to left, yes. Looks that way from the pics
  6. From the pics I'm not seeing CAC (or at least anything well defined as CAC). Keeping in mind you get to see it in hand whereas the rest of us are going off pics. All in poker? lol. I suppose there isn't much to lose...but let's put it this way: if playing keepsies for marbles, I wouldn't put up a marble with (arguably) better CAC characteristics for that example pictured. The yellow one looks interesting, I'd be more focused on it.
  7. I always went by bands vs. splotches. If the multiple colored bands go from pole to pole uninterrupted, I'd consider it to be a Joseph's coat. If those colored bands are interrupted and take on more of a teardrop or splotchy form, that leans me towards Onionskin.
  8. Rather than country of manufacture, I believe "Canada" comes up because these are found more in Canadian collections/groups. Possibly because they were exported to Canada in greater numbers than the US...after all the US had their own marble manufacturers.
  9. lol. I agree, not Peltier, and this trait can show up on any machine made.
  10. It's been looked into over the years. I'm not aware of anything definitive, but lots of rumors. Generally two opaque colors, hand gathered (the "nine" pattern looking more like a corkscrew than a tight nine), and a cut off point. Not a rough cut off like Yasuda, or a "pontil" like you'd see on German handmades... although I've had three of these with same color combo and pattern, with 3 very different cut offs. If not Canadian (I doubt it), Foreign would be my guess before US made.
  11. Day early. I had the camera out and don't typically collect MK, but this one stood out
  12. Nice. I'm guessing it's white and not whispy blue in hand? Is it much smaller than 1/2"?
  13. Nice displays. I've resorted to put my displays on the wall, up high enough so the pets and little kids can't get to them. Still the risk of bouncing balls and Nerf gun wars though...
  14. Seeing a hint of the "9" and some potential swirling action. Another round of pics might easily tell the tale. Curious if the base is opaque or you can shine a light through
  15. Certainly looks like a Pelt Rebel to me. Nice.
  16. I know some people might shake their head at the idea, but did it come in a group with any similar looking examples? For instance: if it came in a group from UK and 95% of the marbles were Veliliglass, Yasuda, and German Handmades... FWIW, it doesn't jump out as any particular manufacturer to me, and my opinion would be narrowed down by process of elimination instead of any particular tell-tale feature. That's what leans me towards a hand gathered CAC with a bunch of surface wear, but I can't say I've seen one quite like it
  17. In my early marble collecting days I thought Agates were bland and sorted them with my "blah" clays and benningtons. It wasn't until later I learned they were actually prized more than glass German handmades at the time.
  18. Yea, I'm thinking some dedicated pics of the "Popeyes" in question might help. I've found a neutral gray untextured background works best for my camera to focus on the marble instead of stuff in the background.
  19. First one looks like a Pelt rainbo with a huge bubble. Not familiar with Pelt Antifreeze. No idea on the 2nd one. hard to tell from the pics.
  20. Isn't there a lady in Italy making these? Paint looks similar to technique used for "paper marbling" or "end covers" in old books. Mill balls are typically heavier than your average clay marble. I don't think it's glass or Gutta Perrcha
  21. Different pics might help, I think I'm seeing a lot of reflections Smaller one obviously looks like guinea, what color is the base glass? Seam looks tighter than what you'd normally see on bullet mold (and most contemporaries). but the base glass is throwing a curve. Is that a pontil on 2nd one? (first pic)? pattern looks abstract enough, could be contemporary. 3rd looks like Veliliglass to me
  22. ooo, thanks for the video, that's a nice looking marble. I think you scored there.
