  1. Blue one is not (no faceted pontil). Much later than the German Grenier marbles.
  2. You can faintly make out PAT APL 78 on the caster on the right, which were the set I used
  3. a pop of color for a springtime Thuringen Thursday
  4. Sometimes oven brick can take on a sheen and look like metal but it isn't
  5. Nice find no kidding! Never personally seen one that big but heard they got up there in size. Check-valves is what I heard most (if not all) this size were originally for. Now I'm wondering what all you passed up on?
  6. 2nd set of pics doesn't even look like the same marble LOL! Odd color combo for this type...I'd want to see it closer but invariably it would end up with my Pelts
  7. I needed an extra couple inches to clear some rough-ins (work in progress, lol, don't mind the mess). So they're not packed up in a box anymore, plus they function way better than I expected!
  8. Interesting. I imagine most of the original "strings" are long gone from those necklaces. The bullet mold necklace looks extra heavy (the racket it would make if the string broke)...
  9. Typically found with mid-century groups. In my experience anyway.
  10. Cool. I'm curious about the (what appears to be) opaque red on aqua. Greiners? Have you counted them? Looks like more than 32...(I was originally thinking Solitaire group). And then the "grill marks" on two of the sides of the mass. Any clue what they were in then melted to leave those marks? Cool item
  11. I'm getting a Foreign vibe on the first. If not, Master.
  12. I agree with Mushroom on the first. Most of the ones I've found are from Canadian or European sources.
  13. Came across this old pic that reminded me...I was hoping Pelt for you but those Jabos are pretty convincing
  14. I think those are called cryonids (or something like that). Seen plenty of them in rocks but not a marble. Cool
  15. I'd be comfortable with Alley on both
  16. From what I can make out looks like a bunch of earlier handmades with faceted pontil. What makes you think polished? A lot of the marbles from Solitaire boards stayed in pretty good shape because they lived on a board (or in the box) rather than on a playground in a kids marble bag
  17. Nice score. Been awhile for me anyways
  18. Not a corkscrew and I agree transitional hand gathered. I'll echo the cut off/pontil looks very clean compared to most Japanese. The glass quality, pattern, and even the color are nicer than what you'd normally associate with Japanese. Nice example.
  19. The agate could have been part of a watch fob, letter opener etc. Probably not intended to be a marble with the hole drilled, but whatever. Still round.
  20. They would probably wear quick with the rest of those old clays. Like carrying them around in a bag of gravel, lol.
  21. The metallic look is likely foil that has rubbed off over time
  22. Not entirely sure what we're looking at here, but the marbles in the first pic look pretty clean. Also assuming they were painted after firing. I suppose anyone at any time could make/paint clay marbles in small quantities. And that red white and blue would be pretty popular color choices.
  23. I can see why somebody might think Pelt. The pattern is messed up but the cutlines look like it in the pics. Odd colors for Pelt though
