  1. I don't think that's a pelt, slag or AA. Post #1 looks like it could be a wild Pelt pattern but the other views make it look more like a swirl with transparent areas. Like champion maybe? Or maybe I'm seeing it wrong. lol nice pattern though.
  2. Almost 2" is about as big as they'd probably be able to make for a good seat on a check valve.
  3. A lot has to do with pattern and color so it really depends. Over 1-3/16" with a decent pattern would be of interest...majority of large slags I've seen are that size or smaller. Of course there are bigger slags out there... The whole industrial application is an interesting topic. Industry usually tries to save money by doing without excess so I'd expect the ones made for industrial applications to be made from the plainest glass possible (ie: those transparent green marbles used for fiberglass or something) Back in the day where things were at the onset of industrial revolution it would make sense that large slags would be used for industrial applications, cause hey - they're already in the business of making marbles and if there's an order to fill for some larger marbles other than "toys", why not?
  4. These new silhouette avatars after the board update add to the "all I could see was the outline" mystery
  5. looks to work ok as far as I can tell, and I love looking at this pic so I'm glad.
  6. The sun shining through those marbles would look amazing I bet, very cool
  7. Forgot to ask if there were 2 pontils on any of these examples. There's at least one on the blue and red. A pontil on the opposite pole would help tell us if they were handmade cane-cut. A single pontil could mean single gathered or else end of cane.
  8. Pretty wild. I've seen pictures similar to the opaque blue on white before but I believe the marble was a lot bigger that the ones you show here. Even the large ones I'm not 100% convinced on their origins (not that I need to be, more a curiosity thing). What's the actual size of these? From the pics I'd guess glass marbles but more pics or seeing in hand might narrow it down a bit more. There are newer marbles that can look similar but I think these are older, just not sure how old. (lot's of help I know) Nice examples either way.
  9. Some Oldies , That blue and orange is a great contrast Winnie
  10. some neat cover art on those, the one with the marble cover could almost pass for Afred E.
  11. One of the nicer groups of marbles I've seen on eBay, what an addition to a collection those would make. Thanks for posting the links
  12. Are they square like cubes or square from one view only (like cylinders). The tumblers I've seen make things more spherical than cube
  13. Most solvents should work at the glue, ie: rubbing alcohol
  14. what else are your thoughts? Doesn't quite look like I'd expect from a cooked marble, those dings
  15. Really, those are some interesting lobes.
  16. almost looks like the bottom of an old soda bottle (except for everything else going on, of course)
  17. Must weigh a fair bit, any idea on maker?
  18. The middle had me going, looked like a nice twist at first
